Hello hello, a lot of firsts for our next Film Stories on FEBRUARY 8 14:00 AT
@fenix . Not only will it be our first collaboration with a film festival (hello
@iffr ), it will also be the first edition with a new moderator (hello
@yaseminkvsr ), and the first time itās completely free šø. It will be double the fun: as weāve invited not one, but two filmmakers from our very own hometown of Rotterdam (hello
@ravi.sandberg and
@ashleyrottjers ). Both bring their own unique voices and approaches to filmmaking, yet theyāre connected in some pretty exciting ways, including winning the RTM Pitch Prize. T-shirts will be for sale as usual, send us a DM or an e-mail at
[email protected]. Poster and t-shirt design by

Ravi Sandberg, winner of the RTM Pitch Prize in 2022 with his project Fantoomwijk. The film premiered at IFFR in 2023 and went on to screen at festivals worldwide. Fantoomwijk tells the story of Rotterdamās Tweebosbuurt, a neighborhood that was slowly erased to make way for luxury housing. Ravi is now working on his first feature film with Family Affairs, and weāll dive into how the RTM Pitch helped open doors, what lessons he learned along the way, and whether Rotterdam will continue to play a role in his future projects.
Joining him is Ashley Rƶttjers, a Rotterdam-based photographer who effortlessly moves between fashion, editorial work, film, and installation as if itās nothing. She won the RTM Pitch last year with her project, Regen in Augustus. Currently screening at IFFR, this short film delves into the inner world of adolescent Jasmine as she navigates newfound independence. Her sense of loneliness and disconnection unfolds through the quiet, empty spaces of her Rotterdam apartment and the intimate phone conversations with her mother.
In this Film Stories, weāll talk city, creativity, pitching, and what it takes to break through as a new filmmaker⦠straight from two voices shaping Rotterdamās film future!
Please note this event will be held in Dutch. We hope to see you there!
