🚨🗣️ Ward 7 resident and Just San Bernardino organizer Miriam Nieto told the City Council she does not support her tax dollars funding a Flock camera contract she believes could further aid federal immigration enforcement and “terrorize our communities.” 🎥
Although the Feb. 18th meeting began around 5:20 p.m., closed session ran long and council prioritized a lengthy short-term rental ban debate before public comment — leaving Nieto, a parent with children to get back to, waiting until about 8:40 p.m. to speak as a handful of other parents were forced to leave early.
With the city’s $84,000 agreement set to renew March 30th, she urged leaders to “get the Flock cameras out of our city” before time runs out. Full story at IECN.com. 🔗
✊🗣️ This evening, Feb. 12th, Garcia Center, Arts Connection, and Just San Bernardino hosted an Arts Advocacy Gathering!
The group applied for the designation from the State in June 2025 and was a finalist, but denied because at the city level, “San Bernardino lacks vision and investment in the arts.”
Today’s meeting celebrated being a finalist, but more importantly to ideate a future cultural district strategy and begin developing an arts, culture, and creative economy advocacy agenda for San Bernardino. ✍️
For today’s council meeting it starts 5pm and we recommend that you show up early around 4 to submit a public comment. Also, be aware that if there a lot of public comments they will limit your speaking time from 3 mins to 1min. Hope to see everyone out tonight! ✊🏽

Childhood memories - across a field of nopales, childhood memories appear, stories of donkeys, tunas and open fields. The thoughts seem to be so far away and yet so close. I am constantly thinking how can I bring these moments to life again, how can I show my children that these are not just stories that mommy tells, but real events that hold lots of love and brought mommy peace and happiness. 😌
