Freezing under pressure is not always a reflection of intelligence.
Teaching medical students made me realise how much pressure, overwhelm and psychological safety can affect the ability to think clearly.
Some people naturally think in a very layered and interconnected way.
So instead of just giving the headline, they give all the context too.
Sometimes the full internal map isn’t needed.
Sometimes the headline is enough.
Working more in health screening, prevention and community health has made me reflect a lot on the gap between knowing what to do and actually being able to do it consistently.
Sometimes what looks like laziness is actually stress, burnout, overwhelm or survival mode.
Honestly, recognising that in myself too has made me reflect on health very differently.
Showed up for my girl 🤍
Real, intentional love. You can see it in the way these two are with each other. @donke_ , beautiful inside and out ✨
And Moses, such a good man.
I laughed, I danced, I had the best time 😄
So glad I got to witness this 🤍
God bless your union and your home.
May your love be patient, kind and enduring in every season.

A few moments from a lovely day last week.
A beautiful space, catching up with people old and new, and a great atmosphere.
Really nice to see friends in their element and to be part of it. 🌼
Spring run in London.
The park was full of runners today. People with dogs attached to their belts, parents pushing buggies, kids running, older runners, people going fast and people taking it slow.
I love seeing that.
I haven’t run for a while so this definitely wasn’t my longest run ever. More of a jog, walk, jog, walk with a few photo stops along the way.
But I’m glad I got out there.
One of the things I’m enjoying at the moment is helping people make sense of their results and what they might mean for their health going forward.
Numbers and scans are one thing.
The conversation that follows is often the more interesting part.
It usually ends up coming back to the same things.
Sleep, stress, diet, movement, and the everyday decisions people make about their health.
That part of the job never gets old.
I might be the odd one reading a textbook in the sauna.
Turns out there is good evidence that regular heat exposure is associated with cardiovascular benefits such as improved vascular function and lower blood pressure.
So if I am sitting here for 15 minutes, I may as well revise ECGs.
The slightly wrinkled pages suggest ECG Made Easy was not designed for sauna revision.
Also, I have discovered something quite interesting about the conversations and people you meet in gym saunas.
More on that soon.
The blossom trees are starting to appear again. 🌸
Recently I’ve been thinking a lot more about lifestyle, prevention and how people actually engage with their health in real life.
Not just the medical side of things, but the behavioural side too.
It’s something I’m increasingly interested in and will probably reflect on here from time to time.
T-2 days to go 🫁✨
