It’s a love - hate relationship with this city.
That’s how most people are feeling right now.
So I’ve been working on a framework that could change how we experience it.
It starts with aligning the cultural hubs under one shared ethos. On November 2nd, I’m getting together a few of the leaders of these hubs.
What do you think we should talk about? And who do you think should be there?
This is your opportunity to speak up about what your experience has been here. It’ll give permission for those who feel alone in how they feel to share what their experiences have been. It’s the first step to making the change we all want to see.
Every mask I wore led me here.
Here’s just a snippet of my story.

We speak with Igor (GM of the Catalyst) this morning.
It’s a big step in the process as it’ll help us figure out if it’s actually a possibility for us as a community to have ownership in the Catalyst (the brand).
The building has been sold to the developer, so this is the next step forward. It’ll inform us for how and if we would then approach the developer and whether we have a conversation about buying the building from them.
So what would you ask Igor if you were on this call?
Yesterday this initiative exceeded the $1M marker in pledges!! A significant moment that stands as a real-time testament to how strongly SC residents feel about making this endeavor a reality.
The journey progresses as we continue connecting with the proper people and professionals to bring this movement to fruition. You rock Santa Cruz. Keep going!
You had questions about how community ownership actually works. We built this to answer them.
Swipe through — then tell us what questions are still on your mind. This is a first draft of what the ownership structure could look like. The community shapes what it becomes.
Update: It’s been confirmed the building has been purchased by the developer. But that’s not the end of the story. We’re now exploring whether we can acquire it from them directly. Before any of that — our first step is sitting down with the Catalyst owners to understand their goals and where they want to go from here. We’re moving with intention and respect for what they’ve built.
Stay locked in.
It’s only been 24 Hours but the Santa Cruz buys the Catalyst initiative is alive. The people are rallying to do something truly epic together!

If what you heard in this video activated a part of you that feels motivated to act, Ringed In Red is a container I designed for you to step into.
It’s a process that starts with us getting clear on what you want from social media and how you want it to serve the work you’re already doing.
We use that clarity as a foundation for identifying and addressing what’s been blocking you from relating to social media in an empowering way.
We then get into designing practices and a structure that aligns with the lifestyle you’re living and who you are. We work on the practical side as well. The scripting, filming, editing, and posting, so your content is visually and audibly compelling.
This is a monthly container. Investment varies based on whether you work with me on retainer or through hourly consulting. We’ll find what fits on our call.
To start, write “Soul” in the comments so we can schedule a call.
A few weeks ago, I got called out for saying that those who are trying to build community in Santa Cruz aren’t really building community.
The person who called me out said they agreed with what I was saying, but it was frustrating that I wasn’t offering a solution. It’s something they’re really wanting, as they’re considering leaving Santa Cruz for the very reasons I was pointing to.
What that person didn’t know was that I’ve been working on a solution for months. And it’s almost ready.

People aren’t just tired.
They’re EXHAUSTERWHELMULATED.
Exhausted, overwhelmed, and overstimulated - all at the same time!
Can you relate?
And what I’ve come to realize, a lot of how people are trying to feel better is by doing that work on their own.
But the patterns that keep us EXHAUSTERWHELMULATED, don’t even show up when we’re alone.
Much love and appreciation to @kysondana for capturing this footage!
