A sneak peek at “Rabbit and the Whispering Wind: A Story About Thoughts and Worries,” the second book in the Mind Chapters CIC series!
Through Rabbit’s journey, children are introduced to simple yet powerful ideas from ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and DNA-V, along with practical strategies they can use in everyday life.
Through the story, children learn that thoughts can come and go like the wind, but they don’t have to control what we do.
This time, Hana is our Mind Chapters Champion, helping children explore what happens when we get caught up in automatic negative thoughts — and how to respond to them in a kind and helpful way.
We’re also really grateful for the lovely feedback about our first book, The Great Glimmer Hunt, which has been making its way around schools across Wales over the last few weeks! (available on Amazon).
Publication Day of The Great Glimmer Hunt! Now available from Amazon - https://shorturl.at/hWGpM
This is the first book in the Mind Chapters series.
Mind Chapters is a collection of gentle, therapeutic, story-led books that help children explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through imagination and reflection. Therapeutic stories bring emotions to life through characters, allowing children to explore feelings at a safe distance. This makes it easier to understand their own experiences, especially when talking about feelings feels difficult.
As children follow each character’s journey, they learn to recognise their thoughts, understand their feelings, and discover how they can respond to them, building confidence before using these skills in real life.

Tomorrow is publication day of the very first book in the Mind Chapters series! The Great Glimmer Hunt is all about glimmers -the small, often unnoticed moments of joy, hope and calm that are always there even on the hardest days. The book is a gentle reminder for children (and grown-ups too) that moments of joy and calm can be found everyday.
Stories can be such a powerful way for children to understand their inner world. Through characters and metaphors, feelings become easier to explore at a safe distance and in a way that feels natural rather than overwhelming. When talking about emotions is hard, stories can open the door.
Mind Chapters is a collection of therapeutic, story-led books designed to help children explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences through imagination and reflection. Each story includes guided activities and an information section to help children build positive mental wellbeing habits.

Introducing our ten Mind Chapters Champions! Our Champions act as gentle guides within our ten book story-based wellbeing programme. At the start of each book, a Mind Chapters Champion introduces the theme of the story and helps children explore emotions, thoughts, and experiences.
Our first book of the series “The Great Glimmer Hunt” (out soon!) features Lucia who is the first of several characters who will guide children through different wellbeing topics across the Mind Chapters series.
These characters are part of a wider approach that includes story-based one-to-one wellbeing coaching, school workshops and group sessions, creative publishing projects for children, storybooks and reflection-based resources for homes and classrooms, the upcoming Mind Chapters Champions Programme, where pupils can become wellbeing champions within their schools.

We’re excited to introduce Lucia, the very first Mind Chapters CIC Champion in our story-based wellbeing series.
Lucia helps children explore our first story, The Great Glimmer Hunt, which introduces the concept of “glimmers,” the small moments in everyday life that can make us feel calm, safe, happy, or hopeful.
A glimmer can be something as simple as hearing your favourite song, laughing with friends or noticing sunshine through the window. These small experiences can help us to pause and recognise positive moments in our day.
At Mind Chapters, our Champions act as gentle guides within our story-based wellbeing programme. At the start of each book, a Mind Chapters Champion introduces the theme of the story and helps children explore emotions, thoughts, and experiences.
Lucia is the first of several characters who will guide children through different wellbeing topics across the Mind Chapters stories and activities.
Through storytelling and creative exploration, Mind Chapters aims to help children build emotional awareness, resilience, empathy, and confidence.

We’re so excited to share the cover of the first book of our upcoming Mind Chapters CIC story series.
At Mind Chapters, we believe that great stories and illustrations aren’t just nice extras- they’re essential and really matter. When children connect with characters and imaginative worlds, they don’t just read the story, they feel it (I still remember crying when I first read "The Velveteen Rabbit"). And it's the emotional connection which helps children care about what’s happening so they resonate with characters and are able to safely explore feelings through someone else’s experiences before applying that understanding to their own lives.
Research in child development and social–emotional learning shows that stories play a vital role in building empathy, emotional understanding and self-regulation. When children observe how characters experience emotions and respond to and manage challenges, they can start to make sense of their own feelings in a safe, non-threatening way. I use this narrative-based approach in one to ones and it’s especially powerful for helping children explore emotions without pressure (especially children who feel let down by current systems and where trust needs to be built up slowly before they feel comfortable to share what they are feeling).
Our ten-book series can be read as stand-alone stories but also link with our coaching resources. Mind Chapters stories explore emotional experiences through relatable characters and imaginative worlds, creating a safe, inclusive space where children can notice feelings, reflect on challenges and practice strategies along with the characters.
Our first book, The Great Glimmer Hunt explores the power of friendship, accepting differences, discovering your own glimmers by deliberately seeking moments of calm and joy to counter triggers and reduce anxiety.
Each story also includes peer reflections from our coaching workbooks helping children to build confidence to transfer these skills into real life.
Every book sold will also help fund reduced-cost coaching for children who may not otherwise have access.

When starting Mind Chapters CIC, it was important to put strong governance in place from the outset, with a clear focus on compassion, safeguarding, and story-based wellbeing support.
I’m so pleased to introduce our Non-Executive Directors:
Dr Melanie Ebdon - Dr Melanie Ebdon is a Senior Lecturer in English Literature & Creative Writing at the University of Staffordshire where she is Course Leader. She has over twenty-five years of teaching experience and leads several modules, including one in Children’s Literature. Her research is focused on contemporary novel writing, in particular its reengagement with mythology in an era of climate emergency.
Emma Leighton-Jones - Emma Leighton-Jones has over 25 years experience as a safeguarding professional in the third sector. She works for the Church in Wales Safeguarding Team where she leads the training and engagement nationally. Emma has over 10 years of experience in local politics both at county council and town council level as an elected representative. Between 2019 and 2022 she held a Cabinet position at county council level holding the portfolio for HR, IT and Diversity. Emma volunteers her time to engage with the community and preserve its environment and heritage and somehow finds the extra time to coach children’s cricket as well as play for a women’s cricket team.
They will provide independent oversight, challenge, and guidance as we develop story-based wellbeing support for children and young people in the community.
