Schwedisches Trio um Mastermind #MatsGustafsson
#GUSH setzt sich aus drei der führenden Künstler der schwedischen Improvisationsszene zusammen, Mats Gustafsson (Saxophon), Sten Sandell (Klavier) und Raymond Strid (Schlagzeug). In ihrem von Überraschung und Spannung geprägten Spiel ist kaum zu überhören, dass sich die drei blind verstehen; immer wieder nehmen sie gegenseitig den geistigen Faden wieder auf, entwirren ihn. Ihr Spiel ist von reifer Kreativität und frischer Impulsivität zugleich. Dabei hilft es sicher, dass sie bereits seit 1988 zusammenspielen.
Eröffnet wird der Abend mit der Formation #ILUMINA, bestehend aus Leandro Hernández Waber (Klavier), Jonas Drobczynski (Schlagzeug) und Mina Lichtenberg (Bass). Ihre Kompositionen leben von Einflüssen klassischer Klaviermusik und kolumbianischer Folklore – sensibel verwoben mit der Ästhetik des zeitgenössischen Jazz. Getragen durch ihr empathisches Zusammenspiel agieren die drei Musiker*innen stets im Spannungsfeld zwischen Komposition und Improvisation, zwischen Struktur und Impulsivität und loten kreativ situative Freiräume aus.

#GUSH brings together three of the leading voices of Sweden’s improvisation scene:
@matsgustafssonsax (saxophone),
@stenmusik (piano), and Raymond Strid (drums). Their play is driven by surprise and tension, and it’s impossible to miss how effortlessly they read each other — constantly picking up each other’s threads and unravelling them anew. Their sound is marked by both, mature creativity and fresh impulsiveness. No wonder, given that they’ve been performing together since 1988.
The evening will be opened by #ILUMINA, featuring
@dco_leandro (piano),
@jonasdr13 (drums), and
@mina_lic (bass). Their compositions draw on classical piano traditions and Colombian folklore, sensitively interwoven with the aesthetics of contemporary jazz. Guided by their empathetic interplay, the trio moves between composition and improvisation, structure and spontaneity — always exploring creative, situational freedom.
