Historic Moment for Nepali Cinema: Filmmaker Min Bahadur Bham has been named a jury member at the 76th Berlin Film Festival, joining world-renowned director Wim Wenders.
Bham is the first Nepali filmmaker to compete for the Golden Bear with his feature Shambhala (2024), and his short film The Flute (2012) was the first Nepali film to screen at Venice. His inclusion marks another milestone for Nepali cinema on the global stage. ❤️🇳🇵

Nepali filmmaker Min Bahadur Bham has been appointed as a member of the international jury at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival, making him the first Nepali filmmaker to join an A-list festival jury.
Bham, whose films The Black Hen and Shambhala have gained international acclaim, will join an esteemed panel chaired by German director Wim Wenders, alongside filmmakers from South Korea, India, the US, Japan, and Poland.
This recognition highlights Bham’s growing influence in global cinema and Nepal’s rising presence on the world film stage.
I am profoundly moved and beyond humbled to serve as a member of the International Jury for the 76th Berlinale.
To stand alongside a titan like Wim Wenders a visionary whose work has been a guiding light for so many of us is an honor that transcends my wildest dreams. I accept this sacred responsibility with the deepest humility, mindful of the historic path paved by one of my favorite icons, Aamir Khan, in 2011.
Today, my heart overflows with gratitude. As I prepare to step onto this prestigious global stage, I carry with me the silent echoes of my mountains, the resilience of my people, and the soul of Nepal. This is not just my journey; it is ours.

The love for cinema knows no age, culture or language boundaries. This wonderful 104 year-old Newa lady gave us the honour of gifting her precious time to watch Shambhala. She had seen my previous 3 newa films all based on buddha's teachings. A very moving encounter.
