Hidden in plain sight. 🔍👀
There’s more than meets the eye at the museum. The architecture at MIM is full of intentional design choices that reflect our connection to music and sound, including windows inspired by piano keys and a little-known echo chamber.
Margo, our media relations associate, fills us in on some Easter eggs that you won’t want to miss on your next visit.

We invited professional flutist @jasminechoi_flutist behind the scenes to preview a few of the instruments in our special exhibition, The Magical Flute: Beauty, Enchantment, and Power! 🪈
One of them was a crystal flute made by Claude Laurent for Napoleon Bonaparte. Laurent made similar flutes for other notable historic figures, including James Madison and Napoleon’s brother Louis.
Thank you, Jasmine, for breathing life into this 212-year-old masterpiece! See this instrument, plus more than 100 other remarkable flutes, on display in The Magical Flute. Exhibition open now!

This National Teacher Appreciation Week, we thank all the educators who make learning fun! ♪
Teachers play a significant role in our mission to educate and engage the young minds who enter our doors. Whether they are arranging field trips for their students or spreading the word about what we have to offer, teachers are among our strongest advocates.
MIM also celebrates Educator Appreciation Month in July, offering free general admission and 10% discounts to the Museum Store, Café Allegro, and Beats Coffee Bar® for pre-K through 12th-grade teachers, administrators, and music educators. Don’t miss our free professional development sessions on July 1 and July 8—a special thank you for your vital role in our community!
