Went on a backstage tour of the Manchester Opera House @palaceandopera . Thanks to Grace, Ash, and Rachel for showing us round and giving such wonderful insights into the building, history, and its inner workings. The wording on the front of the building is 'The Play Mirrors Life' I love this! The fly gallery was a unique way to see the stage (we were not allowed to take pictures of the production) and a rare occasion for me to stand on stage and look into the audience. There was a man on the tour who had been Head of Fly decades ago so it was nice to see him reminisce.
Can't make it to Mean Girls but need to find another production to see there.

Was at The Arden in Manchester yesterday talking to MA theatre students about neurodivergence. Last time I was here my friend Kayleigh Smith was in the class and her partner Will Nelson met me at reception and gave me a tour of the building. Then after the talk we 3 went to a bar in Piccadilly.
This year neither are here and no longer with us.
Arden is ticking over and the course is running but it has lost some of its sparkle. May it find a new sparkle and burn bright again 🔥

Popped my head into the new Humanities building in Oxford. Can't wait to see what is programmed and when it's full of audiences as well as students. Didn't get to see inside the new performance spaces but from the foyer it looks like a wooden Barbican! Looking forward to the day I get to direct something there
