The Milmo Daily is the final design of this chapter, and was the result of me finding out through customer feedback that on somedays, you only need something small to carry everything you need, I remember trying the sample out thinking “this is like the ipod nano of milmo”
It was my first time going viral on TikTok, and it was the first time it felt like my business was going “right” after making a few adjustments.
Although this design is the bookend to this business, this will forever mark the time when I figured out who my customer is, and what they need.
I’ll let you in on a secret. The first batch of Milmo Duffles were defective. I was at my girlfriend’s dance recital when I realized that the handle fabric on mine was peeling, the fabric supplier switched the materials on me and gave me an inferior fabric for the handles. The entire shipment of Duffles were in the middle of crossing an ocean towards our home warehouse.
This was my first real challenge as an entrepreneur.
Out my depth and with the inventory on my credit card, I realized I needed a plan, and a break. After getting my manufacturer to send new handles with the correct (non fading) fabric, I got mentally ready to replace over 1400 handles by hand.
I had one month before both the replacement handles and the defective duffles arrived, so I decided it was time to test out the design by visiting my grandpa in the Philippines. One duffle, one carry-on, and one stressed out founder. (Side note, i learned that im a natural at surfing)
The Milmo Duffle was me realizing that Milmo is about carrying whatever life throws at you, whether it be groceries, discovering the other side of the world, or 700 (now fixed) defective bags.

We found the last 3 boxes remaining of our first design while clearing out our home warehouse, and it’s currently up on our site in super limited quantities.
The Milmo 1813 (now known as the Milmo Tote) was the first time I made a big bet on myself.
Nothing will ever beat the feeling of getting an idea, creating a manufacturing tech pack, finding a factory, getting the sample, shooting the first product shots, all while thinking “I’m onto something here.”
Shortly after the release of this hybrid work-grocery bag, you guys told me that you like to use Milmo for travel, and pretty much anything, leading to the design of the Milmo Duffle, and forever changing how I see bag design.
