4 Millvale Fire members/Shaler area students are currently about to graduate from the entry level fire program at the Allegheny County Fire Academy. Today was the final day of class, and the students participated in “roll in” scenarios. The fire academy truck was out of service today so Millvale provided the truck for today’s class.

Multi-Alarm apartment building fire with entrapment in the borough Around 22:30 hours last evening, calls came in for an apartment on fire in the 100 blk of Grant Ave in Millvale. 191 LT and Police arrived with a working building fire with multiple occupants trapped. Immediately on arrival a tenant was found trapped and needed assistance from a 2nd division window. A ladder was raised from 191RE and 259 chief was able to successfully remove the tenant ( Nice grab chief) . Initially 260Tk, 247Tk, 191RE, and 149EN worked simultaneously on 1st and 2nd due truck and engine responsibilities with 259 engine securing a water supply on Grant Ave..After verifying all apartments were clear of occupants, all crews worked extensively to chase fire in void spaces and through the roof of the building. Units remained on scene until approximately 3am. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.

Shortly after 7am this morning the rescue engine was requested, and responded with 5, to assist with a fire under the floor at Ross Park Mall in Ross Township. This fire was extremely challenging to access and required specialized resources from Allegheny and surrounding counties. Companies worked on scene until approximately 10:30am.
