Our selected emerging photographer for Projections #1 is Millie Crouch ✨
Millie is an emerging photographer from Nipaluna/Hobart who is carving out her place in the city’s creative scene with a body of work that’s vibrant and full of energy. Since 2023 she’s been photographing Hobart’s clubs, events and creative productions - creating vivid, expressive images that capture the energy and emotion of shared experience.
Millie has an ability to capture light and colour beautifully alongside fleeting, intimate moments that unfold in spaces where community, music and creative expression come together — the living, communal ecosystems that reveal something essential about who we are. Her presentation for Projections #1 focuses on her first publicly shared personal work series, which delves into these moments of personal intimacy in public spaces — whether that intimacy is with self, with existing connections, or with strangers.
That same sensitivity to atmosphere carries into her theatre and film work, where productions like The Master and Margarita and Where Ever You Go, There You Are have sought her out for her ability to capture live performance in visually compelling ways.
As the selected emerging photographer for Projections #1,
@photo.lutruwita will support Millie through the process of selecting and sequencing her work and workshopping her presentation in a mentoring session with
@by.amybrown and
@rummin_matt .
Each Photo Lutruwita Projections night includes a spot for an emerging or early-career visual storyteller — keep an eye out for the call-out for Projections #2, which will be in late February 2026.
