[ 𝐹𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐ℎ 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑤 ] We’re excited that 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐇𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 and 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌 (@formvancouver ) are partnering to feature two films each month from each of our collections. From Regard Hybrides, they will feature a film from their online collection, and from FORM, they will feature a film from their collection of commissioned films from the past 9 years. This collaboration is an effort to uplift and celebrate screendance/dance film works throughout the year from artists across Canada. This month, watch 𝘉𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘢 (2018) by Marlene Millar (@millarmarlene ) and Philip Szporer (@philipszporer ), which evokes facets of Shiva, the Lord of Dance, as both the destroyer of evil and the guardian of time; and 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘢 𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘢 (2021) by Siam Obrègon (@sea.am.siam ) and Kyana Lynne (@kyanalyne ), a solo in which dance, water, sand, and wind come together at dusk, as the moon slowly appears. 🔗 Link in bio! * Nous sommes ravi·es d’annoncer que 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐇𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 et 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌 s’associent pour présenter chaque mois deux films de leurs collections respectives. We’re excited to share that Bhairava is featured at the @cinedans FEST '26 as part of the “Focus: India” program. Capturing the multifaceted nature of Shiva, the Lord of Dance, the film explores ritual, devotion, and embodied presence as sites of history and transformation. Set against the rhythms of the ancient site of Hampi in South India, and performed by the masterful Shantala Shivalingappa, Bhairava brings the deity to life through precise gesture, abstract movement, and the enduring energy of Indian dance. This year, Mouvement Perpétuel—with co-founder Philip Szporer, filmmaker, dance journalist, writer, and professor—the duo is celebrating their 25th anniversary of collaborative existence. The pair, who met at a dance audition in the 80s, have created a critically acclaimed collection of dance media work over the years that includes Zab Mabougou: Being in the World, a documentary about Franco-Congolese African dance pioneer and philosopher Zab Maboungou, and a multi-media installation 1001 Lights that highlights the Sabbath candle-lighting ceremony, and Witness, a work that orbits around the theme of dementia.
