【💫 New Exhibition | Textile and Inner Explorations】⁠ Bringing together 14 artists from across Asia, ‘ #ThreadingInwards’ explores the deep connection between textiles and spiritual life🧵, showcasing how the acts of weaving, dyeing and stitching form a tactile language of personal and collective memory, emotion, belief and imagination. 【New Exhibition✨｜Exploring Hong Kong Childhood Textiles】⁠ In the 1950s, Hong Kong’s population surged – nearly one in every two people you’d meet was a teenager or child. 🧒🏻👦🏻 During those years, children did not grow up with screens but instead were surrounded by textiles: swaddled in a baby sling, dressed in home-sewn clothes made by their mothers, or clutching a beloved toy. 🧸✨⁠ ⁠ ‘Snuggle and Stitch: Childhood Textiles of Hong Kong’, curated by Bruce Li, Associate Curator of CHAT, brings together local childhood textiles from the 1930s to the 2020s. 🧶 The exhibition features heirloom garments, ready-made fashion, mass-produced toys, and artisanal dolls. 【韓相雅｜水墨與棉布交織的寧靜空間🖤🤍】⁠ 沿着迴廊前行，一片由黑白水墨與棉布構成的立體風景悄然展開。南韓藝術家韓相雅的《玄關》系列，以韓國傳統墨水在棉布上創作，透過軟雕塑與層疊繪畫，探索內心與存在的不同狀態。 在佛教語境中，「玄關」象徵通往真理，或另一種理解方式的門扉🚪——我們出生時，彷彿跨越一道門檻走入世界；在此，韓相雅亦重新想像一處人人皆可跨越的界限，邀請觀眾走進作品，步入一個「不一樣的世界」。 空間內形似佛塔的軟雕塑「絲離塔」，其填充物來自藝術家公開徵集的舊布偶，並以48位參與者捐贈布偶中的棉花製成。🪡 作品承載着日常生活的痕跡、情感與記憶，凝聚成一份超越個人經驗的歸屬感。 縷縷入心⁠ 📅日期：即日起至28.06.2026（逢星期二休息）⁠ ⌚時間：11:00am-7:00pm⁠ 📍地點：CHAT六廠⁠ 【Han Sang A | The Tranquil Space Woven from Ink and Cotton 🖤🤍】 As you walk along the corridor, a three-dimensional ink wash landscape unfolds before you. In her ‘Threshold’ series, South Korean artist Han Sang A works with ‘meok’ (traditional Korean ink) and cotton fabric, exploring different states of inner life and existence through soft sculpture and layered painting. In Buddhism, a ‘threshold’ can mean an entry point to truth or another way of seeing, just as we pass through a doorway into the world at birth. 🚪 Han reimagines a threshold that anyone can cross into an alternative world. Within the space, you will find soft sculptures shaped like stupas, Han calls ‘Sil-i-tap’. 🪡 They are filled with cotton stuffing from dolls donated by 48 people who answered Han’s open call. They gather the traces of everyday life and emotion, evoking a sense of belonging that stretches beyond personal memory. 【IV Chan | A Soft Green Playground 💚】 Inspired by the ‘green room’ of a theatre’s backstage, Hong Kong artist IV Chan creates an immersive soft installation titled ‘Chloronest’. 💭 In the middle stands a large rounded soft sculpture. From it extend multiple smaller soft forms, linked together like fragments of a dream or pieces of memory, and lie around like toys in a playground. 🎠✨ They scatter across the space like playground toys, inviting curiosity and gentle interaction ✨ Layers of green patchwork and draped fabric fill the room, echoing the idea of the digital green screen 🖥️ , like a blank backdrop that can turn into anything. his textile‑filled environment becomes an open container for emotion and imagination, a space where anything can be projected or felt. 💭 Every element in the installation is meant to be touched. As you lean, sit or gently play with the soft forms, the installation becomes a temporary shelter where the fabric holds your weight and, perhaps, a story you bring to it. 【🦋 Miss Happiness | Tracing History Through a Classic Advertisement】⁠ In the special display Artefacts of ‘Blue’⁠, visitors can see a classic advertising poster from the early 20th century – ‘Miss Happiness’. 💙 We sincerely thank Mr Alan Chan for generously lending this valuable piece from his collection, allowing us to explore the story of Indanthrene Blue through the lens of early commercial imagery. Mr Chan has long been particularly fond of collecting posters, postcards and similar ephemera. He has collected over 50 of Shanghai ladies series posters, of which approximately 10 are Indanthrene advertising, and the poster on display was purchased from the Panjiayuan antique market in Beijing in the 1990s. This ‘Miss Happiness’ poster was created by Hang Zhiying’s studio, a famous painter at the time, and is one of the earliest modern endorsement images. Nancy Chan, a Hong Kong actress, also served as the brand ambassador for Miss ‘Happiness’, pioneering the precedent of celebrity endorsements. 【Aziza Kadyri | Extending a Dancer’s Dream 💃】 In ‘Her Stage (IV)’, Aziza Kadyri draws on her grandmother’s unfulfilled dream of becoming a dancer, blending datasets of traditional Uzbek dances and gestures extracted from her grandmother’s daily routines, Kadyri uses artificial intelligence (AI) to synthesise a choreography. ✨ Visitors are invited to approach the installation, insert their bodies into the textile sculptures, and experiment with different dance poses. 🩰 Accompanying screens present AI-generated choreography, along with the visual archive and recollections of Kadyri’s grandmother. Her story unfolds in Soviet-era Uzbekistan 🇺🇿, where she once aspired to become a dancer but was unable to pursue her dream due to the constraints of traditional gender roles imposed on women at the time.
