I was going through clips this afternoon to use in our ON GOLDEN POND pre-show, and I came across this touching interview with Henry Fonda. Jane always felt a coldness and distance from her father, and her work in ON GOLDEN POND came from that. I hope she has seen this interview, and knows that her father felt this way about her, even if he was incapable of saying it to her face. Ticket link to ON GOLDEN POND tomorrow, 5/15, in my bio. I will be talking a great deal about this relationship, and how it influenced the movie. #tcmparty #events #sanfrancisco #fonda #janefonda @tcm @milibrary

Mark your calendar and join our next lunchtime book club 📚️. This month's pick is CELESTIAL BODIES by Jokha Alharthi, translated from Arabic by Marilyn Booth, published by @catapult . "An inventive multigenerational tale spanning from the end of the 19th century to the early years of the new millennium, this is the first novel by an Omani woman to be translated into English. It’s also the first Arab novel to win the International Booker Prize." ―The New York Times Book Review, Editors' Choice 🔖 May 20, 12 pm PST @milibrary in SF OR join from anywhere via Zoom.

It has long been one of my personal favorites, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Join us at 6 for the movie, or 15 minutes earlier for the pre-show of vintage film clips and musical numbers! #events #sanfrancisco #movies #classicfilm
