I used to do this everyday. Fish was our main source of protein. It took me a while to get my mind and body to start diving again, because I was actually intimidated. I felt my fitness is nowhere close to how it used to be. Spearfishing requires so much energy, focus and it’s also very dangerous. It’s been a few weeks since I started going consistently again. I felt the stoke again and became confident. I’m hoping to eventually share some of my experiences under the ocean soon.
Matthew 4:19
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Huge congratulations to all the talented surfers who competed at the Last Frontier Surf Competition in Alimanguan, San Vicente, Palawan - a growing surf destination known for its beautiful 14 km Long Beach and rising waves for longboarding and more. 🌊🏄♂️ This event, part of San Vicente’s push to establish itself as a new hub for surfing in the Philippines, drew passionate longboarders from across the country and around the world showcasing the spirit and skill of the global longboard community.
Massive respect and pride for our FILIPINO surfers who stood out and took home wins proving once again that the Philippines is brimming with world-class talent and that the future of Philippine surfing stretches far beyond the usual breaks. 🇵🇭💪🏾❤️ The energy, heart, and aloha shared out there were inspiring. 🤙🏾
Shoutout to the organizers @mikeoida , @katoida and @sdmisports@thelastfrontiersurf@lazuliresort@sanvicsurffest for putting on an incredible event and helping shine a spotlight on Palawan’s waves and community. Here’s to more surf culture, bigger crowds, and more Filipino wins in the seasons ahead! 🌴🫶🏾🇵🇭
Our 4th time hosting a Resurrection Sunday celebration in San Vicente. The very first one was when my Dad miraculously recovered from Covid in 2021. Grateful, thankful, blessed. Thank you, Jesus! 🩵

Ocean always loved playing with toy guns. Here’s my take on it: I think it’s important that he’s able to handle it safely and responsibly. Our goal here is for him to understand gun safety and that guns are not like any other toy that kids should be freely playing around with.

As a Filipina surfer and a mom raising Tala on Siargao Island, this is something I feel so deeply in my heart.
One thing I’m proud about in Filipino culture is that we live in a matriarchal society where women are valued highly compared to many Asian or Southeast Asian countries. ❤️🇵🇭
I would not be the surfer girl I am today if it were not for the support of the people around me, including the male counterparts and instructors who believed in me from the very beginning of my surfing journey.
As someone who has been watching the growth of Philippine surfing for many years, it has been such a pleasure and an honor to see more and more women in the water, especially Filipino women.
Every island I visit, the numbers keep growing. On my latest trip to Palawan, seeing so many Filipina surfer girls in the lineup with me and with Tala made me emotional and proud.
I know surfing is still a male dominated sport around the world, but I have great hopes for the future of Filipino surfer girls across our country. I saw that future in Palawan.
When I traveled years ago to places like Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Thailand, women were barely in the water.
As a Filipina traveling to those places, I felt proud to represent our country. It made me even more determined to encourage more women back home to paddle out, try surfing, and believe they belong in the ocean too.
Because here in the Philippines, women are not just allowed in the lineup. We are welcomed. We are celebrated.
And that is something I will always be proud of as a Filipina surfer mom raising her daughter by the sea 🫶🏾🌴🌊
Snippets from the @sanvicsurffest National Competition where @alingagudo from Siargao won CHAMPION for the women’s division and I am beyond proud of her. A busy, tired mom who kept going strong and competing like a true pro ❤️💪🏾
The male longboarders were amazing to watch too, but what truly stole my heart was the @gromrevival Competition. And yes, I am always extra excited when I see young surfer girls charging 🌊
Lilo from Siargao won, followed by Luna from La Union, with surfer girls from different parts of Palawan also joining. Watching kids surf so young, face their fears, and push their limits was deeply inspiring 🤙🏾
What touched me most was seeing parents, especially moms, nervously watching from the beach. I could relate both as a surfer who just wanted to ride waves and now as a mother who wants to protect while still supporting what her child loves.❤️🥹
The Grom Revival Competition was organized so well. Each child had a caddy keeping them safe in the water. No pressure, just pure stoke and a revival of love for surfing in communities across the Philippines 🇵🇭❤️
Huge congratulations to @mikeoida@katoida@eenoweenow@lazuliresort@sdmi.sports and all the sponsors for making this happen.
There are still not many surfboards for locals in Palawan yet, so if you have boards to donate, I would love to help send some their way. (We are lucky in Siargao to have more access now) 🌴🌊
As a Filipina surfer and mom who has believed in this sport from the very beginning, events like this remind me why surfing matters so much to me. 🫶🏾
Rise and shine, groms! 🌅
The wait is over. Contest Director @mikeoida has officially given the green light—it’s ON for Day 1 of the Grom Revival! 🚦
Conditions are looking prime for the opening rounds and the next generation of talent is about to take over 💥
Stay Tuned!
