I’ve advocated for constitutional rights and institutions in the public arena for years. I’ve worked with legislators to pass legislation. I’m a military veteran with a record of public service. I’m ready to serve on day one. That’s why I’m the right choice to represent #HD35. #ncpol
Carmon is the star around which our world revolves. She's the mother of our children, the sunshine in my life, and without question, she's the better half of our marriage. Happy Mother's Day to the best one I know.
Carmon and I saw a lot of friends out at Friday Night on White tonight, and we met a few new ones in the process.
We live in the best spot in North Carolina.
NORTH CAROLINA - Today North Carolina Families for Safe Streets members met with legislators to urge support for HB 1199, sponsored by Rep. Schietzelt
NC lawmakers test drove a vehicle equipped w/ Intelligent Speed Assistance to see firsthand how this technology prevents dangerous speeding.
Thank you to the NC General Assembly members who took the time to hear our stories and stand with families working to save lives.
It was an emotional morning, meeting with families who have lost loved ones to super speeders. These families are the "why" behind HB 1199, the SEATBELT Act, which leverages technology to stop repeat offenders before someone loses a parent, a child, a spouse, or a grandchild. I'm proud to sponsor this bill.
One of the perks/duties of being a Rep who lives close to Raleigh is participating in skeleton sessions. These are administrative sessions where we don't vote on legislation, so there are usually only three members in the chamber: one to preside as chair, one to say the prayer, and one to make the motions.
Today was my turn to serve as chair. But not to be outdone, Rep. Howard Penny pulled double duty on the other two roles.
A little (needed) rain didn't keep us from Meet in the Street! Local businesses, nonprofits, service organizations, churches, first responders—Meet in the Street is a great opportunity to hear from the community about the things that matter to you. (And to have a little fun in the process!)
