’ve written a fair bit of music over the years for many different configurations of musicians and instruments. Jazz octets, brass bands, sextets, quintets, and many other settings. Many times I felt that “I’d really like to play some of these tunes more often” So to that end, I’m happy to announce the debut of a new quintet that’ll be playing a lot my tunes and giving them new knees. Some tunes are 20+ years old, some have never been played! The band is called Flower After Flower. I'm grateful to have assembled a great band with Sam Samuel Cousineau, Deniz Lim-Sersan, Garrett Warner, and Sage Reynolds. Our first gig is coming up the at awesome Bar Minotaure for the Lundi Jazz night on Monday, April 27th. I’d best describe the music as vibed, progressive jazz. Here's a beat from a tune I made a few years ago on a Drum machine. It's called Star Trekking. It's got an 8th note shuffle in the Hi hat and 16th note shuffle patterns on the snare and bass. I've learned it and will play it tomorrow, Monday Oct. 27 at Minotaure with Future Pasts. We start at 9:30
