“Have you been experiencing any nausea on this new medication?” My doctor asked. “No, not really,” I said. “OK, well watch out for that, a lot of people complain of nausea.” Five minutes later I get in the elevator, it starts to go down, but the contents of my stomach decide to do the opposite. I projectile vomit right next to a snake plant on the sleek linoleum, barely missing the poor UPS delivery guy. A nice lady from the bank comes over with a trash can and says “You got this girl I’ll let the janitor know,” and I give her a thumbs up while continuing to regret last night’s enchilada bowl. I leave, wait for my ride on the corner, and watch for the next five minutes as countless people approach the building only to have the smiles on their faces fall flat upon approaching the glass lobby doors. I really do hope that janitor doesn’t have too much of that to clean up today. But good news, my new refill is ready to be picked up… but maybe later, I think to myself as I stand in the sun for the first time in days walking back to the apartment. At least the sun is still shining, the birds are chirping, and I didn’t step in the dog poop I almost stepped in right before taking this selfie. Today is my birthday. 😂🥳
