in recent years, @midyetttim and I have had a number of conversations about songs he has written--primarily between his early 20s and his 50s--in his bands @silkworm.music and @mintmileband , among others. it has occurred to me that there are lyrical through lines in his work, and that over 30 odd years, he has often written uniquely perceptive songs about mortality, passion, love, and our finite lives.

we are extremely half-assed about anniversaries, b-days etc. and not PDA people. but 40 years together today seems worthy of note. v, i have no idea what i would be like without you. just worse, i guess. we are different people, of course, but we have grown up together like two vines, irrevocably intertwined. to say i love you seems very understated. but oh, i do, unfathomably, eternally. happy anniversary
