I made this from 100 crushed clamshells collected on Crosby Beach. Titled: ‘Always Present’ it is a response to Sir Antony Gormley’s incredibly powerful ‘Another Place’. I often go to Crosby to see Gormley’s artwork and on one of the first visits I noticed how the gulls and children paid such interest to the clamshells spread near and around the art works and quite oblivious to what I had come to experience. All about balance. In my house there’s a point in the day when the light falls on this finished sculptural work that is both deliberate and gentle, a passing moment never planned. This sculpture featured in my THEREAFTER exhibition @thesignetlibrary
