Wow it’s been a while since we lasted posted on here (so sorry!) but the sun is shining and a heat wave is rumoured to be on its way! The barns are looking (if we do say so ourselves…!) resplendent ❤️
Little bit of a different post, but yesterday was turn out day at the farm. It is one of our favourite days of the year seeing the girl dancing and prancing away !
There is nothing more special than sharing the things you love with the people you love. For us that’s introducing our youngest family member to the lakes and our farm animals and it’s fair to say she adores both!
Some wonderfully family friendly places and walks you should add to your next trip:
1) Another Place- I mean where to start, it has everything for an amazing family trip including our beloved Fellside Sauna (which is one maybe to save for a child free hour…)
2) Mathildas in Grasmere- though not shown this place is amazingly welcoming and also has an outstanding brunch game!
3) The Gather at Grasmere- incredible shop, fab food and freshly made ice cream. Enough said!
4) Grasmere- this is an absolute hidden gem… we jest , but Grasmere is popular for a reason. With many beautiful easy walks this is the perfect place for tiny legs to enjoy their first experience of the lakes, just make sure to get there early for parking as it gets very very busy!!
5) Long Acre Barns- admittedly not a tourist hotspot, but Eric the terrier and his gorgeous lambs sure looked after Sophia!
6) Middleton Lodge- finally, when you’ve had a hectic weekend being an aunt or grandma then you simply must go to Middleton Lodge to recover and recharge for when you next see your protégée!
You best believe we’ve capitalised on this beautiful weather to get out on our bikes! The Eden Valley is blessed with some of incredible cycling routes with both the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales easily accessible giving you everything you want… speed, hills and quieter
roads oh, and some fab coffee spots too!

Safe to say, spring has officially arrived in the Lyvennet Valley and I could not be happier. The collective elation of mood is just incredible and everything and everyone seems that bit brighter and happier. Even Amber at the grand age of 12 was wanting to go for a big run! Also it means we are almost at my personal favourite holiday… Easter.
In my books not even Christmas comes close to Easter. From the availability of my favourite food (mini eggs) to our Uncle Johnnys epic Easter egg hunts and finally by how stunning the Lyvennet valley looks in the spring light.. you truly won’t find me happier. Now weather don’t you go and do me dirty after all this!

Happy International Women’s day to everyone out there. We just wanted to take a moment to celebrate our wonderful boss/mother who many of you will have had the pleasure of enjoying her hospitality. Her tireless work and attention to detail is second to none and a major reason the barns are what they are. Even as I type she is in the laundry room ironing up a storm to ensure that the moment of snuggling in to bed for our guests truly is the most perfect experience. But more importantly she is just generally pretty wonderful so really deserves to be celebrated everyday!
We’re so lucky to have her, as well as all the other incredible women in our community ❤️

Safe to say Indy knows how to crack the whip in The Midsummer Barns HQ.
So enjoy a (very) brief tour of our bedrooms across Dove and Moon. Each barn sleeps 6 people and every room has its own unique feel from the Alexandra room with the four poster bed to the Eden room with the epic carved headboard. There’s a space for everyone !
