Our connection with Midsummer started about a year ago.
When I visited South Korea last year, I took one of Min-seon’s workshops. Whenever I travel to a different city, I try to take a class with a local florist. After doing flowers as a job for years, I feel like I need that kind of refresh once in a while.
How does another florist build a wedding arch?What wrapping paper do they use to finish a bouquet?What little habits make their work feel more polished?
Those are the kinds of things you only really learn by doing the work together.
Floristry is such hands-on work, and habits stick quickly, both good and bad.
Min-seon has over 13 years of experience in flowers, from running her own studio to weddings and brand collaborations.
Her classes are really about that process: noticing the habits you’ve picked up over time, letting go of what no longer helps, and learning better ways to work.
Not just another workshop, but a real chance to level up.
I wanted to bring that experience to New York. So here we are 🤍

2026년 미드썸머 창업반 2기 모집합니다.
해마다 미드썸머 창업반을 통해 처음 꽃으로 창업을 준비하던 분들이 각자의 공간을 열고, 각자의 방식으로 샵을 운영하며 성장해가는 모습을 지켜보고 있습니다.
어떤 분은 리테일 매장을 시작하고, 어떤 분은 웨딩 작업으로 방향을 잡고, 또 어떤 분은 설치와 공간 연출로 활동 영역을 넓혀갑니다.
그리고 시간이 지나 같은 현장에서 다시 만나 함께 작업하고,
동료로서 다시 연결되는 순간들이 생겨납니다.
미드썸머는 그 과정의 한가운데에서 로드샵 운영, 플라워 클래스, 브랜드 협업 프로젝트, 웨딩 부케와 공간 플라워 디렉팅까지 다양한 형태의 일을 실제로 경험해 왔습니다.
창업반에서는 디자인과 다양한 경험들을 나누고 각자의 방향과 상황에 맞게 어떻게 적용할 수 있을지를 함께 고민해봅니다.

이번주 정말 많은 분들이 미드썸머를 찾아주셨어요. 예상보다 훨씬 많았던 주문량에 감사한 마음이 정말 컸지만, 그만큼 한 분 한 분을 만족시켜드려야 한다는 부담감도 함께 컸던 것 같습니다.
준비하는 내내 최선을 다했지만 혹시라도 아쉬움이나 실망을 드리진 않았을까 돌아보게 되는 시간들이기도 했어요. 미드썸머는 한번 찾아주신 분들이 계속해서 다시 찾아주시는 경우가 많은데, 그래서 더 익숙함에 안주하지 않고 늘 처음의 마음으로 꽃을 준비해야겠다고 다시 한번 다짐하게 됩니다.

(꽃을 사입하는 순간부터 이미 디자인은 시작되고, 꽃마다 모두 다른 컨디셔닝 과정을 거쳐 세심하게 관리해야 한다. 그리고 고객 한 사람 한 사람의 마음과 니즈에 맞춰 제작되는 과정까지.
어느 하나 사람의 손길 없이 지나갈 수 있는 과정이 없다.
그래서 이 일은 무엇보다 노동의 가치가 크고, 그 노동력 자체가 참 귀한 일이다. 매번 느끼는건 꽃보다 더 중요한 건 사람이라는 것.
좋은 꽃도 결국 좋은 사람이 만들고, 그 마음이 모여 누군가의 하루를 아름답게 만든다는 걸.
