Celebrating 20 years as a band, the mighty Skerryvore are coming to Dumfries to play Easterbrook Hall on Friday 19th December.
What are Skerryvore? They’re like no one else. Epic of melody, intimate of feeling and plugged into the roots of Scotland but blasting out to the world.
Three time winners of Scotland’s ‘Live Act of the Year’ award, Skerryvore have evolved from their humble beginnings to become one of the country’s leading forces in a thriving live music scene. At the forefront of a movement that has reinvented and reignited a traditional Scottish scene for a modern, multicultural audience, the band have brought their high energy performances to audiences across the globe.
From their early days in Scottish West Coast halls and bars, to festival crowds in the USA, Canada, Australia and throughout the UK and Europe, Skerryvore’s wide range of influences and talent produce a musically expansive, immersive yet intimate set that excites and captivates audiences.
With a mix of bagpipes, fiddles, accordions, and whistles, alongside guitar and vocals, underpinned by driving bass, drums and keys, Skerryvore represent the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music.
Their now 7 studio albums demonstrate the wide range of influences the individual musicians bring to the mix – a unique fusion of folk, trad, pop and rock.
Three singles from the latest album ‘Tempus’, released in April 2023, all featured on the BBC Radio 2 new music playlist, and the album went to number 1 in both the Official Scottish Album and UK Folk Albums charts, and entered the top 40 in the Official UK Charts.
Skerryvore took their Tempus Tour to audiences across the UK, Europe and USA, with their unique fusion appealing to a wider mix of age groups and tastes.

Glasgow-based folk pop quartet Tide Lines are thrilled to announce their Homeward Bound Tour, a 12-date run this November and December, marking their biggest Scottish headline tour to date. The tour will see the band returning to beloved venues and exploring new locations across Scotland for the first time. The tour announcement follows the release of their uplifting new single Cherry Blossom Sunset. Released on their own imprint, Tide Lines Music, the track features sing-along lyrics that evoke the red night sky and the terracotta glow of Glasgow’s iconic tenements. Recorded in their studio on the Isle of Mull, the single showcases Robertson’s beautiful vocals and upbeat, alt-pop-inspired melodies. Robert Robertson, of Tide Lines, comments: “This is the largest, most extensive Scottish tour we’ve ever done so we really can’t wait. It’s actually our only full scale tour at home in Scotland this year. It’s going to feel amazing to be back playing some of our favourite venues whilst also getting to play parts of the country that are new to us.” Formed in the heart of the inspiring Scottish Highlands, the popular band – comprising Robert Robertson on vocals and guitar, keyboardist Ross Wilson, drummer Fergus Munro, and Alasdair Turner on electric guitar and bagpipes. Known for their warm, vibrant genre-bending take on indie-folk, which is set to win them even more dedicated fans as they are also set to embark on a massive summer with an impressive run of festival dates across the UK and their Elements (Stripped Back) tour this September.

lKeith James, : Word Paintings.
Crichton Central, Dumfries, Sat 5 October at 7.30pm
Spanning the past 50 years, Keith has performed thousands of enthusiastically received shows in Arts Centres and Theatres throughout the UK. Thoughtful, interpretive concerts devoted to the writing of visionary Songwriters and Poets who he has always admired.
The success of these concerts has been such, that it has somewhat eclipsed Keith’s own material (which has mostly been heard on his 12 Album releases) so the writing and release of this new and significant body of work Word Paintings has given Keith, and those alongside him the confidence to open a door and let this treasure chest of original songs be heard.
