**One weekend. Six homes. Zero reasons to miss it.** Atomic Ranch on the Road in partnership with @midmodcolorado is coming to Denver on June 12-14 — and the exteriors alone are worth the trip. A soaring moss rock wall on Mohawk Road. A flagstone and wildflower landscape in Arapahoe Acres. A dramatic elevated pavilion with river rock columns and a red door that stops you at the end of the driveway. A freshly renovated brick beauty glowing at dusk through a wall of picture windows. A spare, confident white ranch in Arapaho Hills with a chartreuse entry door and clerestory windows running the full width of the facade. And a sunset shot looks like it was staged for our magazine — except it just looks like that every evening. Six homes. Two nationally registered mid-century neighborhoods. One in Arapaho Hills, five in Arapahoe Acres — the crown jewel of midcentury Denver. Homes shaped by architect Joseph Gerry Dion and builder Edward Hawkins, including his own personal residence. One home that has never before been open to the public. The exteriors will stop you in your tracks. The interiors will make you want to stay. 🎟 Tickets in bio — June 12, 13 & 14, Denver, CO

Turns out, I have always been into Architecture, preservation, and “place”. Last Christmas (2025), I received this brick from my parents as a gift. As my parents were starting to clean things out of the house to prepare for the move in ‘26, they came across this brick in the garage. They immediately recalled where it was from, and as soon as I opened the gift, so did I! I grew up here in Colorado-Lakewood to be exact. And went to Devinny Elementary School (go Knights!). When I “graduated” 6th grade and went on to middle school, the plan Jefferson County (public school district I was in) had was to tear down half of Devinny, and rebuild a “larger” and more “useable” addition for the growing school. I distinctly remember being very sad that they were going to tear down the school- instead of preserving it and adapting the school to the changing and growing population. One- because it seemed like it could be purposed better. 2- because the buidling was SO COOL. It was essentially a dumbbell lay-out (two huge circles, with a glass walkway between them). One circle had the cafeteria, main office, and gym. The other had all the classrooms. And downstairs of the classroom side had the 5th and 6th graders-had our own level as we got older. It was such a fun building to run around inside (teehee) as it was a circle with all the classrooms on the outside, a few inside, so the halls were a giant racetrack, and the outside walls were curved with windows- and then every classroom had access to outside to easy access as well! It left an impression on me. So much so, that once they tore the building down, I rode my bike up to the school, snuck past the fence, and grabbed a brick to remember the school buy. Totes not a normal kiddo thing to do. And I am pretty sure I had a tear or two seeing all the rubble (memories+the loss of the-now I know it as architectural design-building and “place”). But placed that lil ol’ brick into my back pack and rode back home, and stashed it in the garaged. Told my parents about the adventure. And they remembered the story 26 years later, and gifted me back this brick. I think 11yo Adrian would be impressed with my passion turned career :)
