🔟 Tyler Brendel @tylerbrendel 🇺🇸 Team: Mid-Atlantic Union p/b Netflix | @midatlanticunion Fresh off a field sprint win at the 2026 Tour of Newport News and podiums at multiple other MABRA race staples, Tyler Brendel heads to the Tour of Somerville with both speed and endurance on his side. Before focusing on cycling, Brendel built an impressive résumé in NCAA track & field, competing in the heptathlon and decathlon for both the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Arkansas. A former MPSF heptathlon champion and NCAA Indoor Championship qualifier, he’s still relatively new to high-level bike racing, but his raw speed and competitive background have already started turning heads. Our mission: Mid-Atlantic Union presented by Netflix is a composite team created to compete at the top tiers of domestic road racing. The Mid-Atlantic Union creates opportunities for deserving riders from grassroots clubs at the region’s top invitational event, the Armed Forces Cycling Classic; and at the USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships. The Union will ride as one at these and other pro-am, major regional events; in local events of the Mid-Atlantic Bicycle Racing Association (MABRA), riders will happily race with their “home” teams, including Redshift Racing, DC Velo, SpeedLab Racing, DistrictTaco Racing, the National Capital Velo Club, and District Velocity Racing. The cycling community of the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area has long produced many standout bike racers, from many great racing clubs. The few who put on the cherry blossom armband all proudly represent this region to the country — and show that there is power in the Union.
