OUT NOW: LOST TAPES 01 - INTROSPECTION I just launched the first EP of my new series on Bandcamp. Lost Tapes is a collection of tracks I’ve made over the years that never found their place at any label. Instead of waiting around to get them signed (which might never have happened for some) I decided to release the music myself. The cuts are a bit deeper than you might be used to from me. No big buildups or energetic drops here. While I love making house music for the dancefloor, I also create music meant for listening. When I experiment with this deeper sound, I feel like I can express myself in a different, perhaps more genuine way. Letting go of the “rules” and “patterns that work”, and focusing purely on the creative process, without worrying about the outcome. In doing so I let go of a concept that has grown upon me over the years. The concept of trying to make music that fits in a specific type of genre. The idea of being part of a subculture in house music and making music that aligns with it has been a struggle to mesometikes. I always felt like it was necessary to stick to a sound in order to build an identity as an artist. Luckily I feel a lot more comfortable now with appreciating the process of making music and just going with the flow. Therefore I’m not gonna hold back this music that I think is great, only because it might not fit inside that ‘box’. Instead I’d rather create my own space that’s all me and that isn’t tied to one specific subgenre! If you feel what I’m saying, try to listen to this EP all the way through. I’m very proud that the track will be part of the ADE sampler from @pivrecords and @thefactory93 . I attended the demo drop from PIV last year and met the team properly, which really started my journey with PIV.
