Please join me next week when I chat with Mick Chippington, a set builder / modelmaker / puppet rigger based in London. Mick has one of those seemingly “cool jobs” – he has crafted sets and models for many animated shows and films, including Tim Burton’s “Corpse Bride” and “Frankenweenie”, and Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr Fox” and “Isle of Dogs.” Mick also worked on live action projects such as Max Le Film, Asteroid City, and the Roald Dahl shorts for Netflix such as “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar”.Tune in to hear how Mick got into this creative industry and what it’s like to make stuff and be part of the magic of film and animation.
Also, “Wes Anderson: The Archives,” a retrospective of the director’s career, opens at the Design Museum in London on 21 November. If you’re in London, you can see some of the objects that Mick has made in person.
