Today I learned of the passing of Nadia Potts. A prima ballerina with the National Ballet of Canada and the Artistic Director of Ryerson Theatre School Dance program. She was a mentor and great teacher to me at a pivotal point in my life. I was 16 years old when I met her and I was under her tutelage from my first summer at George Brown until I graduated from Ryerson four years later. Through dance she simultaneously broke me and lifted me up, preparing me for a life in the performing arts where we must embrace a life of highs and lows. By example she taught me discipline, execution and that it is indeed our habits that actually make our dreams come true. She always understood that for me the storytelling was the thing that brought me to dance in the first place and so I’m told she was not surprised when I moved from being a dancer to acting. To this day I have never lost the urge to grand jete across an open space and I still hear her proper and lyrical voice when I find myself dancing in my kitchen. We haven’t spoken in years but I am emotional and full of gratitude for having been lucky enough to be her student. Like the greatest teachers she probably never knew how many lives like mine she inspired. RIP Nadia. Bravo! And a standing ovation to a beautiful life!
A breathtaking lunch at Elora Mill this morning with the ever inspiring @wolfey_now It was such a treat to connect and catch up. So grateful for the beautiful, supportive women in my life. #christmas #eloragorge #friendship
Home Free is coming home!
Next Sunday, November 16th at 7:30pm, Home Free screens at Guelph’s own @bkshelfcinema , a place that’s meant a lot to me over the years. The Bookshelf is a cornerstone of Guelph, a local theater that’s weathered every storm and kept going. @michellenolden and I will be there for a Q&A after the film, and we’d love to see you there. Come out to support the movie, but more importantly, support local cinemas like the Bookshelf. Every ticket sold keeps their doors open, their staff working, and independent film alive! See you there! 📽️

This morning I watched this Mama push her babies out of the nest. She hovered by and gave them chirps of encouragement but they needed to do it on their own. Only they could figure out how to flap their little wings and while at the beginning they looked at her with complete confusion (and maybe a bit of betrayal) by the end of the day they were flitting from place to place. She’d done her job and she knew they were ready. So… I literally wept as I watched her and I share this because I’ve had a taste of the “soft grief” that @miafreedman talks about in her beautiful letter to her son (check it out boy moms). Today my oldest son writes his last exam as a high schooler. We watched the last games that he will play in minor sports and got the last email from the school. He’s off to uni in another province and I know he’s ready. (fly my amazing boy fly!), He is kind and thoughtful and smart and good and I’m just brimming with excitement to see where his journey will take him. My middle is on an exciting athletic path and my youngest is off to highschool and I can see so clearly now how in the blink of an eye they will be where their brother is. This last month has been proms, grads, championships, training camps - so many firsts and lasts for our family. No more elementary school - how did it move so fast? My heart is beyond full and proud of my sons and the men they are becoming but it also aches just a tiny little bit for the little boys that they were when I was the centre of their universe. I love this beautiful stage of where we are as a family and I wouldn’t trade a moment of our chaotic messy life - Thank you Mama bird for reminding me that every moment is precious while they’re in the nest but that it is also awesome to watch them fly.
Hell Motel premieres TONIGHT on @shudder and AMC+ That would be the eyeball of yours truly in the last shot which actually kinda creeps me out. So if you’re in for creepy and scary and slasher and horror this is the series for you. An incredible cast. And blood - there was ALOT of fake blood! Like I mean showering it out of my hair for days🥴 #hellmotel @hellmotelshudder

Happy wife! Happy life! @zark54 you’ve made many of my dreams come true and this greenhouse is the latest. Made from completely recycled dock boards, old windows and even old screws, the only new thing on it is the roof. I saw it on Pinterest, said “ooh I like that” and voila! In between moments in our VERY chaotic life you made it happen. You’re an amazing partner in all things and I LOVE it so much. Thankyou for being you and for feeding my soul in the countless ways you do. #greenhouse #happywife #garden #upcycle #repurpose #hobbyfarm #happyplace ❤️💐
