The Cape May Dyno is a self supported, through-the-night century ride, departing from the Liberty Bell at 7pm, and arriving at the shore in Cape May 100 miles later. It’ll happen on the last Friday in September every year until people stop showing up. These are my photos from when I rode it in 2021. In 2022 it was hurricaned out. (Two riders took it on anyway, I was not one of them.) This year I can’t ride it due to my knee injury. This is one of the more special and unique cycling happenings around, and I’m really bummed that I have to miss it.

TLDR: I had a bicycle accident. I’m fine, but I won’t be able to ride again for a while.
On September 1st, while biking home from work, an unseen piece of construction debris got caught in my front wheel, locked it up and sent me over the handlebars. The result was a five minute gap in my memory, some nasty injuries that are mostly healed now, and one injury that is preventing me from riding a bicycle for the foreseeable future. It would seem to be a tear in my quad tendon, but I won’t have a proper diagnosis or treatment plan until after I get an MRI on Oct 3.
The FAQ
•Yes, I was wearing a helmet. Things would’ve gone a lot worse than the concussion were I not. Shout out to my sunglasses too for saving my left eye.
•No, I wasn’t going fast. I was totally mundanely coasting down the street at 10mph, standing on the pedals, and it happened in an instant.
•It was a piece of a 5” pvc pipe.
•There was construction and road work happening on the block.
•Yes, I’ve contacted Stuart Leon the bicycle crash lawyer. No word back yet.
•My bicycle only suffered one broken spoke and one bent spoke.
I’ve been sick for a week now. Just stuck inside without the energy to even do anything productive within the confines of my apartment. I’ve missed alotta bike rides in the past week. On Friday I missed the Bike Party ride. Well I decided I could drive out to the endpoint, because I didn’t want to not get any photos of this ride. It was an anniversary ride, and Wes was arranging for another jam session at the end. You can see those photos at @phillybikeparty . I liked this one enough to share it here. I’m still sick but starting to feel better.
Batch 2 of photos from @keystone.bike@swiftindustries #swiftcampout2023, the ride out to Evansburg State Park. Along the SRT we stopped at Betzwood (Valley Forge) for a lunch break. Then continued on to the Perkiomen and Skippack Trails. It was hot and the weather was beautiful.
First batch of photos from @keystone.bike@swiftindustries #swiftcampout2023. This is the second year Keystone led a ride out to Evansburg State Park from Philly. There was rain in the forecast, but we lucked out and got outta town before it arrived. The route was 40 miles, mostly on the Schuylkill River Trail, the Perkiomen Trail, and the Skippack Trail.
Whilst biking up the Perkiomen Trail last September I happened across the Pennsylvania Live Steamers, a private club of train enthusiasts who build, ride, and maintain their own miniature steam railway, mostly in 1/8th and 1/12th scale. They were kind enough to invite us in, and Carl even gave us a ride on his train. Thanks Carl!
Helluva reveal under the el in Kensington. Thanks @okdehmurals for the tip. #ghostsign #phillytype #demolition #demolitionphilly #undertheel #workshopoftheworld #buildingghosts #shotoniphone12pro
