♥️This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating the survival and resilience of our baby girl, Cleo.❤️She’s me and
@michaelpizzano 's Valentine. This little munchkin (after 14 years of keeping it pretty chill) decided to eat an entire loofah puff… she got most of it out. Unfortunately, not all. After four days (anti-nausea meds/laxatives/and appetite stimulants), we brought her to the Vet AGAIN, and after a suspicious X-ray, the ER. Emergency surgery was the name of the game, and as she is such a healthy fighter, the doctor felt this was the perfect time to get it done before she started taking a nosedive. An hour later, she was on the operating table, and a final piece of loofah (the size of a walnut) was removed from her intestines. They said she’d have to stay possibly two nights, BUT after 8 hours, she was eating, tearing off her cone, and MEOWING to come home. The docs were floored, and we rushed back and took her. It’s been a roller coaster since, but we've managed. There were sedation concerns, her getting 3 jumps in (naughty!), eating issues, as well as incision concerns. One week down… another to go of 24/7 monitoring. We’ve all relocated to the living room on the pull-out couch, barricaded everywhere except for two kitty-stairs (she's 100% not allowed to jump for two weeks), and us monitoring. Today is her post-surgery checkup, and we’re hoping for the best. Tonight, me and Mike (and Cleo) will have a lovely dinner at home. The real Valentines are all of you. YOU all reminded me, during a very divisive time when cruelty seems to be overshadowing kindness, that human beings at their core are kind, caring, and just want to have a life of love and stability. YOU all have brought that back into our lives. It’s humbling, I’ve never made a GoFundMe, but in a year where we’re funding our wedding, and my industry is in flux, to be hit with $10k of expenses in one day was harrowing. You guys made us feel seen, cared for ,nd understood. We had to save our girl, and YOU GUYS saved the day, donating almost $4k in a week. Thank you for sharing, donating, and sending us words of encouragement. If you want to continue to share, the link is in bio. (➡️ for photos of the week)
