LOS ANGELES, CA - April 26, 2025 - Award-winning performer Michael-Shaun Hennessey invites audiences to witness his remarkable journey in the powerful one-man show "Searching for Robert Hennessey" having it's World Premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June at the Broadwater Black Box.
In this captivating true story, Hennessey—a self-described "fabulous gay man" and triumphant 35-year AIDS survivor—shares his decades-long search for his father, a quest that began in the housing projects just outside of Boston where he grew up and culminates in a revelation so astonishing it seems scripted by fate itself.
"This show is about more than finding my biological father," says Hennessey. "It's about resilience, hope, and discovering that sometimes life's greatest gifts come after our greatest struggles."
For over thirty years, Hennessey pursued every possible lead in search of his father, a truck driver named Robert Hennessey. His determination led him to change his own last name, call every Robert in the phone book, and create viral videos in hopes of making a connection.
The journey takes audiences through childhood doorbell dashes, curious coincidences in leather bars, mailbox stakeouts, and heartbreaking DNA disappointments—all building to a Father's Day revelation that defies all expectations.
Having survived against incredible odds as a long-term AIDS survivor, Hennessey brings the same fighting spirit to this deeply personal story.
His experiences growing up in Boston's public housing shaped his resilient character and unwavering persistence—qualities that ultimately led him to an answer he never expected.
"Searching for Robert Hennessey" features uncanny synchronicities including 11:11 connections, telephone number coincidences, and childhood classmates who prove to be much more than just friends.
The show celebrates the beauty of coincidence and reminds us all to remain open to life's unexpected possibilities.
