Watching ‘The Deb’ again this weekend, I was emotional as the credits rolled and I saw how beautifully and carefully every one of our dance cast is listed.
One of the most meaningful moments for me in making this film was the coming together of multiple generations of Australian theatre and commercial dance performers into one place. Both seasoned professionals whom I looked up to when I was coming up, as well as a whole new inspiring group of up-and-coming talent, came together to create so many of the large production numbers featured in the film.
Dancers are the backbone of every experience. Long before an audience sees the final product, the choreographic process often begins in the studio, with a few bodies and a couple of ideas. It is not lost on me how much care and consideration went into these credits, largely because of one incredible producer in particular, @simpkingreer
I also want to recognize the wonderful work of our dance casting director, @leannecherny who did a phenomenal job finding us all this talent!

This past Wednesday evening, I attended a special preview screening of The Deb, an original musical comedy shot entirely in Australia. Afterward, I joined cast members Shane Jacobson, Natalie Abbot, and Charlotte NacInnes in a special Q&A moderated by the brilliant @itsmattymills
