In "Moon" I wanted to see how a bass flute handled the melody. So muted strings, a soft solo violin playing harmonics, and some thickening with a flute and English horn provide a backdrop over a foundation of bassoon and bass clarinet. Oooo.... 🍁 🧡

Look, we can't all be Mozart leaning over a billiard table cranking out his perfect first draft, like in Amadeus. For the rest of us, revisions are part of the writing process.
After hearing this short orchestral sketch, I realized the texture had too many ideas competing at once. So I went back and simplified the orchestration. I removed a counterline, redistributed voices, and thickened the melody with similar timbres.
Honestly, I love revisions. Whether I’m revising my own work or responding to a client’s notes, every adjustment is a step closer to serving the story more effectively.

Haha. Tonight’s composing session involved:
• a church square bench
• a forgotten key
• an emergency Mochi relocation
• and waiting out dinner plans in Rueil-Malmaison.
Not exactly what I had scheduled.
But creative work teaches you something important: plans change constantly. Sessions come and go. Deadlines move. Technology breaks. People improvise.
You adapt and keep going.
Honestly, I think flexibility is one of the most underrated creative skills there is.
