Now let’s talk about the spaces that bring the entire main floor together.
The great room and dining room had to do a lot of heavy lifting — connecting seamlessly to the formal living room while still holding their own. In a home like this, cohesion is everything, but so is impact.
The biggest risk in the great room? That brick-colored rug from Rugs USA. It’s fiery, but muted. Bold, but grounded. And in a space filled with soft neutrals and natural light, it completely changed the energy of the room. Suddenly, everything felt warmer, richer, more layered.
Paired with the travertine table from Crate & Barrel and Athena Calderone, it created that perfect tension I’m always chasing — organic and sculptural, refined but still approachable. The kind of combination that makes a room feel elevated without trying too hard.
And then there’s the kitchen — incredibly chic on its own, which meant the staging had to take a step back. We kept the styling simple and intentional, letting the architecture, the finishes, and that beautiful marble island do what they do best. Sometimes the most powerful move is restraint.
Same goes for the scullery — a space I love to design, but this one didn’t need much. It was already beautiful in its own right, so we kept it minimal and let that incredible natural light from the windows do the heavy lifting. A few thoughtful moments, nothing overdone.
The dining room, on the other hand, took a minute. This was one of those spaces that looks simple… until it’s not. We went through a few different rugs, a few different chair moments, tweaking proportions and tones until it finally clicked. And when it did, it felt effortless — like it was always meant to be that way.
That’s the goal. Rooms that feel resolved, not overworked. Considered, but never forced.
Together, these spaces complete the main floor — layered, cohesive, and designed to feel as good as they look.

5828 Tanglewood Dr is what happens when scale, sophistication, and a little bit of MCM soul all show up to the same party.
Tucked into one of Bethesda’s most coveted pockets, this home already had the bones—grand proportions, incredible natural light, and that effortless indoor-outdoor flow buyers are craving right now. It was the perfect canvas to lean into a more elevated Mid-Century Modern moment.
Think:
Clean lines.
Warm woods.
Low, loungey silhouettes.
Sculptural lighting that doubles as art.
The direction was clear:
Elevated. Tailored. A little moody. MCM… but refined.
We layered in rich tones, organic textures, and iconic mid-century forms—while keeping everything feeling fresh, current, and livable. Not a theme… a point of view.
Because the goal isn’t to recreate the past—
it’s to borrow the best parts of it and make buyers feel something now.
And this one? It hits.

And just when you think the story ends… it keeps going.
Beyond the primary suite, there were six additional bedrooms to bring to life — each one an opportunity to push the design a little further while still keeping everything cohesive.
Instead of playing it safe, we leaned in. Whimsical kids’ rooms that feel playful but still elevated. Guest rooms that are warm, layered, and just interesting enough to feel memorable. Spaces that don’t feel like afterthoughts — they feel intentional.
The throughline? Color and curation.
We carried the palette from the rest of the home into these rooms, but softened it, played with it, let it evolve. And then came one of my favorite details — subtle moments of scalloping woven throughout. It shows up in unexpected ways, adding a sense of rhythm and a slightly playful edge without ever feeling theme-y or overdone.
That’s always the balance.
Rooms that feel fun, but still refined. Designed, but not precious. Cohesive, but never repetitive.
Because every bedroom — whether it’s for a guest, a kid, or anyone in between — should feel like it belongs in the story of the house.
And here, they absolutely do.

And then… the primary suite.
After all the mood and drama throughout the rest of the house, this space shifts the energy — lighter, calmer, but still incredibly considered. It’s serene, yes… but not boring.
The architecture here did most of the heavy lifting: soaring ceilings, incredible natural light, and that perfectly placed fireplace anchoring the room. Our job was to enhance it without overcomplicating it — to keep it feeling elevated, intentional, and quietly luxurious.
The moment that really brings the room to life is the art over the fireplace from ArtStar. It adds just the right amount of whimsy — a subtle pop of color that keeps the space from feeling too serious, while still reading as high-end and refined.
Then we layered in pieces that make the room sing. The chairs from CB2 bring that little bit of zing — a rich, tonal contrast that draws your eye and gives the room dimension. The bed, also from CB2, is understated in the best way: soft, sculptural, and perfectly scaled to the room.
And one of my favorite moments — the oversized Art Deco mirror from Crate & Barrel. It reflects that incredible light, amplifies the architecture, and adds just enough drama to keep the space from feeling too restrained.
The bathroom follows the same philosophy: clean, bright, and beautifully executed. That classic black-and-white floor paired with the warm wood cabinetry strikes the perfect balance between timeless and fresh.
This is what a primary suite should feel like.
Calm. Elevated. Effortless.
A retreat that feels as good as it looks — and one you never want to leave.

If you thought we were done… we are so not done.
Now we head to the basement — but let’s be clear, this is not your typical lower level. No dark, forgotten corners. No predictable “man cave.” This is one of the most elevated — and quietly sexy — spaces in the entire house.
The color drenching and lighting moments here, designed by Silverstone Group, are doing a lot of the heavy lifting — wrapping the room in this rich, moody tone and creating depth, warmth, and atmosphere from the moment you walk in. It’s bold, intentional, and completely transformative.
The real magic is in how that lighting plays throughout the space. Layered, architectural, and incredibly well considered — from the integrated shelving glow to the soft overhead moments — it highlights the depth of the color and gives the entire room that warm, cinematic feel.
Then we balanced it. Crisp whites and soft creams in the furniture keep the room from feeling too heavy, creating contrast and letting everything breathe. The oversized sectional grounds the space and makes it feel inviting, while the large-scale art adds that editorial, gallery-like presence.
This is what happens when you treat every level of a home with the same design intention.
A basement that doesn’t feel like a basement… it feels like a mood.
Moody, elevated, and just indulgent enough to make you want to stay awhile.

Let’s talk about the room that set the tone for the entire house.
In a home of this scale, every space has to carry weight, and this formal living room understood the assignment immediately. Wrapped in the deepest, most dramatic green, it creates an instant sense of mood the moment you walk in — rich, architectural, and completely transportive.
From the start, this room became the design anchor for the entire project. The millwork, the ceiling detail, the way the natural light plays against that saturated color… it already had incredible bones. My job was to meet that energy and elevate it with pieces that felt equally bold and considered.
We layered in large-format art from CB2 to amplify the scale and give the walls an editorial presence, then brought in sculptural, architectural furniture in moody tones to create tension and drama. The rounded ivory sofa softens the depth of the green, while the oxblood velvet chairs bring in that rich, cinematic contrast I’m always chasing.
A formal living room that doesn’t feel stiff, but instead feels like a mood.
Sophisticated, dramatic, and deeply inviting — the kind of room that stops buyers in their tracks and lingers long after the showing ends.

Stop the scroll.
This one was a moment.
Over 7,000 square feet of layered, cinematic design, and every inch of this extraordinary home by Silverstone Group gave us a cue.
The architecture. The millwork. The finishes. The mood.
From the beginning, the vision was clear: rich, moody tones, sculptural silhouettes, tactile textures, and a palette that feels deeply considered, collected, and undeniably luxurious.
The real anchor for the entire project was the home’s breathtaking color-drenched formal living room and media room. Deep, atmospheric, and impossibly striking, those spaces set the tone for everything that followed. We let that design language carry throughout the home, threading drama, richness, and architectural form from room to room.
But we’re starting at the top.
Welcome to the Sky Lounge — and if I’m being honest, this was the room that kept me up at night. It’s big. The kind of big that either reads as effortlessly luxurious… or completely swallows you whole. For a minute, it absolutely intimidated me.
The jumping-off point was this incredible inky blue-black sofa that immediately grounded the room and gave it the moody, editorial energy it needed. From there, the stunning Prabal Gurung x Rugs USA rug layered in richness, movement, and just the right amount of drama. And then one of my favorite moments in the entire space: the teddy bear chair from Jeremiah Brent’s collaboration with Crate & Barrel. It adds exactly what this room was asking for — a little wit, a little softness, and a whole lot of sophistication. Playful and polished all at once.
The result is a room that feels like a destination. Moody, sexy, and completely unforgettable.

Before: beautiful bones.
After: a home with soul.
The seller, a curator at the Smithsonian Institution, had an incredible collection of African art, and it deserved to be part of the story.
I layered my own African art and decor as well as some great vintage furniture into her collection to create a seamless dialogue between old and new, personal and editorial.
The synergy is what makes this one special.
Collected. Sophisticated. Deeply memorable.
