Generally I don’t like to think about my photography in these terms and I’ll admit to it even less often, but this is my favorite photograph I have taken thus far in my entire time with photography. It’s funny, I didn’t expect to get anything from this roll. I was just having fun composing frames and clicking that awful, mushy shutter release on a barely functioning point and shoot camera.

Greece on expired Kodak Gold 400
In August we traveled to Kalamata, back to what I consider, at least in my heart, to be home. While there at my grandparents old home I found numerous old rolls of film in a dusty old drawer, many of which were Kodak gold 400 expired sometime in the late 90’s.
I took a chance on documenting portions of our trip with this film and on a point and shoot camera no less. In letting go I ended up shooting some of my best work to date, namely the last frame in this reel. at least to me it is.

Oh boy, saying this tunnel was dark just doesn’t quite do it. Suffice it to say, my light meter read it at e.u. which is well… less than ideal, BUT pushed the film three stops and it held up rather well! Super impressed with 400Ds flexibility. Here’s the test, one of these frames is portra 800 pushed two stops. Which one do you think it is? 👀
