A few days ago, my life changed forever. I lost my cousin, my brother, my best friend.
Derrick, you pushed me harder than anyone else ever did. You always believed in me more than I believed in myself. You were always dreaming up master plans for me, always wanting me to win, no matter what crazy new thing I was chasing.
You were my safe space, my confidant. You never judged me, you just supported me. Anytime I needed something, you were there. One of the most selfless souls I’ve ever known.

This week, I had the profound privilege of visiting the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, and experiencing their Rosa Parks exhibit. I stepped onto the very bus from that pivotal day in history and sat in the exact seat where Rosa Parks — a woman whose courage reshaped a nation by refusing to surrender hers.
Sitting there, I felt the weight of her bravery, the tension of that moment, and the ripple effects that still touch us today. It was a powerful full-circle moment that moved me deeply and made me reflect on how far we’ve come as a people and how far we still have to go.
