A young alligator floats along the bayou near Lafayette, Louisiana in January. “Gators are supposed to be hibernating right now,” my Cajun guide ‘Tik-Tok’ said, “But them babies still are out and bout.” While not the perfect season for spotting gators, my forst time on an airboat on the bayou was insane.

Most people are on the world, not in it — have no conscious sympathy or relationship to anything about them — undiffused, separate, and rigidly alone like marbles of polished stone, touching but separate. - John Muir

Yellowstone National Park has the unique distinction of being the very first of its kind. The majestic valley that started the historic preservation of natural wonders through the National Park Service is today still one of the nation’s busiest national parks. With close to a million visitors a month during peak summer seasons, it is evident to anyone who has been why the idea of laying eyes on Yellowstone valley and her magnificent geothermal wonders draws all who dare to picture it. #yellowstone #nationalpark #yellowstonenationalpark #streetphotography #fujix100f #wyoming #travel #travelphotography #fuji

The rising sun reflects off the flooded Bonneville Salt Flats in Northwestern Utah. As a wet winter in the west gave way to spring, snow melt filled the flats famous for speed and power into a tranquil inland sea, albeit just a few inches deep. #bonneville #bonnevillesaltflats #nikon #nikonphotography #nikond800 #travelphotography #travelgram #saltflats #flood #utah #desert #sunrise #spring

A wild bison wanders across the road at Badlands National Park in South Dakota on May 27, 2023. One of a few dozen in a heard moving through the spring grasslands. An estimated 30 - 60 million bison used to roam the vast grasslands of the American West. By 1884, there were only around 325 wild bison left in North America. This dramatic decline was due entirely to the American government policy of genocide and the insatiable greed of businessmen and traders who sold the hides as trinkets and trophies. They were hunted with guns and ran over with trains. They were targeted to destroy the lifestyles of the natives and force them onto reservations. Despite these facts, the stoic symbol of the West is rebounding. There are approximately 500,000 bison in the United States and while a far cry from their pre-United States numbers, it is a sign of progress. @badlandsnps #bison #buffalo #badlands #badlandsnationalpark #wildbison #southdakota #nationalpark #naturephotography #americanwest #nikon #nikond800 #wildlifephotography #wildlife
