What began as a forgotten and purposeless basement light well has been transformed into a calm and restorative retreat.
From the outset, @cmosborne had a very clear vision for what the space needed to become. Not simply redesigned, but emotionally reimagined. A hidden sanctuary inspired by the intimacy and atmosphere of a Marrakech riad.
Together, that vision was brought to life through a deeply considered spatial experience. Foliage was carefully selected to reflect the secret courtyard gardens of Morocco. Lighting automations shift subtly with the rhythm of night and day, changing the emotional texture of the environment over time.
At the heart of the space sits a bespoke hand-cut marble fountain, crafted in collaboration with the extraordinary artisans at @moorish_craft Traditionally constructed as a single 180kg piece, the fountain had to be completely re-engineered into two modules to allow installation through a tight London entrance, while preserving the integrity of the craftsmanship itself.
Three days of installation work in London.
Many weeks of artisan craftsmanship in Fes.
Every detail considered. Every material chosen with intent. Seating from @sohohome  creates space to pause, reflect and simply breathe.
The end result is more than a redesign.
It is the transformation of forgotten space into theatre, atmosphere and purpose.
