Developers of the controversial and long-awaited 'Harry Potter' video game, 'Hogwarts Legacy,' are continuing to distance themselves from creator J.K. Rowling's transphobia.
Early access to the game began today, and players shared videos of the character Sirona Ryan, a barkeep in Hogsmeade. While her trans identity isn't explicitly stated, it's implied by a line of dialogue: "I was actually a witch, not a wizard."
Response to the character has been divisive. Some are praising the inclusion as positive representation, while others are criticizing it as tokenization and continuing the tradition of poorly-named marginalized HP characters (Cho Chang, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Anthony Goldstein.)
Developers previously revealed that character customization would be gender inclusive.
