ahhhhh the epitome of my surrealist dreams and my favourite from the new collection.
This piece encapsulates the wild, ethereal presence of the natural world and explores the magical connection between human and sea, born of surfing. I also just really really love the sun, and vermillion is now my new favourite colour.
Please, picture yourself in this scene for just a moment - imagine the quiet, the soft waves lapping against your board, the dark water beneath you toned by dusk, and the vermillion sun burning away the horizon, like a timer threatening the end of a moment that seems so infinite... can you feel it?

I also added in the image that basically inspired this whole piece on the last slide! I screenshotted it from a reel but can’t remember where so if you know who took the video please let me know so I can credit them! I was instantly in love with the glowing vermillion sunset and knew I had to play with it… but how? Hibiscus flowers of course 🤓

‘Morning Meetings’ - a celebration of friendship, community, sunshine, connection, and fun !! Woweee.
The deep fortune of this moment only really hit me the other day as I was reflecting on my current life and how things have changed. During the time in my life that I painted this piece, I was unbelievably lucky. Unfortunately (as it always does) it took everything to change for me to realise that.
I surfed with my best friends almost everyday at our chill local break (shout out flatty ❤️ love you bitch). Cruising around with a bunch of familiar faces, where everyone greets each other, lots of smiles, sillyness, laughs, and pretty often, a sense of peace and comfort. Like we were welcome, like we belonged to a place.
An experience we built from connection and friendship, in a bloody beautiful spot.
We were so lucky and we didn’t even know it.
3 years ago I posted this carousel on TikTok and it clocked over 9 million views. To me that is absolutely insane and I count my lucky stars everyday that it happened because it was the key to kickstarting my career as an artist. It pulled me into an audience and created a community I could relate to and vice versa ❤️🤌🏽
I still haven’t really worked out what it was that made this blow up in the first place hahaha but I’d like to know! Was it relatability? Was it growth? Was it vulnerability? Idk!

‘The Fisherman’s Rebirth’ 2024
I can’t remember the dimensions but teeny tiny!
It’s important that you get to know this work. She is a real soul piece and a deep exploration of my life at the time.
Inspired by two poems surrounding the same idea of struggling to find a match in the dating world, this painting follows the shift in mentality I experienced from the “starving fisherman” always coming up empty handed, to understanding that from each “failed” relationship I could take something - growth, a lesson, knowledge about myself and the world around me. And so the fisherman had a rebirth 🦋
I attempted variations of this work a couple of times previously but was never able to pull it off, and part of me now wonders if it was because the universe was waiting for me to learn the vital second part of this lesson.
I could talk about this painting and all the intricacies behind it forever but I’ll leave you with this for now and hope it made sense!

Last month I painted ON a car for @finn_noosa and it turned out wayyyyy better than expected 🤣
We spent lots of time brain storming different ideas/areas, and gathering inspiration from the natural beauty of Noosa. Gorgeous fluffy banksias and bush won overall and I’m not mad about it, might even have to paint some more!
