This week, Mental Health America of Lancaster County was proud to bring mental health education and awareness to communities across Lancaster County. πŸ’™ From presenting Mental Health and You in our local high schools, to supporting the Dear Evan Hansen Project in multiple schools, to speaking with businesses about workplace mental health and organizational well-being β€” our team has been busy building stronger, more supportive communities. We also had the opportunity to provide Trauma-Informed Practices training for IU13 staff, helping educators and professionals better understand how trauma impacts learning, behavior, and overall well-being. Education, awareness, and early identification matter β€” and together, we can create environments where students, employees, and families can thrive. To learn more about our mental health education opportunities, visit mhalancaster.org or contact our Education Coordinator at 717-397-7461. #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalHealthEducation #TraumaInformed #SchoolMentalHealth #CommunityWellness #LancasterCounty

Pennsylvania families need your help. OMHSAS is updating the statewide voluntary admission rights form used during psychiatric admissions. The revised language references parents or guardians of children under 14, but does not clearly state that under Act 65 of 2020, parents and legal guardians may still consent to voluntary inpatient mental health treatment for their child until age 18. We are encouraging families, advocates, and community members to submit public comments asking OMHSAS to clarify the language so it more accurately reflects Act 65. Sample comment: β€œI believe the updated OMHSAS voluntary admission forms may unintentionally create confusion about parental consent rights under Act 65 of 2020. Families across Pennsylvania continue to report being told they cannot authorize voluntary inpatient treatment for their child after age 14 unless the youth consents or is involuntarily committed. I respectfully encourage OMHSAS to revise the language so the form more clearly reflects the protections and intent of Act 65.” Send comments to: [email protected] Subject line: RE proposed form MH 781-BCD – Explanation of Voluntary Admission Rights_2026 Revised Comments due Wednesday, May 20. Visit /child-and-family-advocacy/ or contact our family and child advocate at 717-397-7461 if you have questions.

We were honored to support our friends at the @archstreetcenter Annual Fishbowl Fundraiser last night β€” it was an evening filled with community, compassion, and incredible generosity. πŸ’™ A special thank you and heartfelt congratulations to @susanne.hershey as she begins a new chapter after many years of dedicated leadership and service to the Center. Your impact on this community will be felt for years to come, and we are so grateful for all you have done to support individuals on their mental health journeys. Wishing you nothing but the very best ahead! We are also thrilled to celebrate the tremendous success of this year’s event, which raised an incredible $91,979 to support the mission of Arch Street Center. We are grateful to have been part of such a meaningful evening and to stand alongside organizations and advocates working every day to strengthen mental health support in our community. #CommunityImpact #Congratulations #FriendsOfMHA #Fishbowl #Educate #Advocate #Support #ArchStreet #MHA #Gratitude #YouBelong

From the comfort of your own space, participants can enjoy guided chair yoga, reflective journaling, and calming breathwork activities that nurture both mental and physical well-being.
