Man…not sure when or why along the way I stopped doing Cab blunts to backside revert, but this is one I wish I never stopped doing. Crazy thing is, I never slammed on it or had any hard falls or can think of a reason that I stopped doing them. I just went through phases in my skating where I wanted to always try learning something new, not new to the world, but just maybe something new to me that I had never done before. Progression to me, was always a motivating factor. The two guys that I skated with on a daily basis at @spottampa @bhow72 and @paulzitzer were so f#cking good! They were learning new shit every day, every session and they just pulled me along for the ride!! šŸ’ØAt one point in my @birdhouse days ( 1993 in this clip) , I used to have Cab blunts to rev on lock. To the point that one session at Woodward on the blue metal ramp in this clip ( titanic), Tom Boyle, @mikecrum4dwn and @nealhendrix bet me 10 bucks each that I couldn’t do it padless in less than 3 tries. It took me two tries, but I was confident enough knowing that like a cat falling, I would probably be able to find my feet… and I did! The first one was a bail, but I got out of it and stayed on my feet kind of running out backwards. I used to do it at the end of contest runs as consistent as I could do a cab pivots. Not sure at 54 years old If that lemon is still worth the squeeze. With all the injuries over the last 44 years of skateboarding… broken ankles, broken arm, Shoulder surgeries ( 2 left and 1 right ) and 13 knee scopes (9 right, 4 left) for torn cartiledge and a fractured back , I gotta pick my battles wisely nowadays! Ole gray mare just ain’t what she used to be!! 🐓 The good thing about skating for 40+ years is, I can do something that I haven’t tried or have forgotten about for the last 10-15 years, and it feels like a brand new trick again!! 🤣I did it recently with lay back airs again, backside Boneless to fakies, Howie slides and a bunch of other old tricks that I just stopped doing or forgot about. Sooo… maybe there’s still hope for the cab blunt rev! šŸ˜‰ @thedrybrand @skeletonkeymfg @slappytrucks @bonesbearings @oldbonestherapy @spottampa @bonelessproducts @s1helmets

Backside boneless to fakie, inspired by @youthgoneold šŸ™Œ and @staabpirate1 šŸ™Œ and the fakie alley oop 5-0 to fakie was me thinking of how rad @omarhassan does them, and made me want to do one today! He always did them so sick and on top! šŸ”„šŸ™Œ. Fun session today. Haven’t done a bastard plant ( backside boneless to fakie) in at least two years. Just forgot about’em, but I did a bean plant to fakie last session and made me think of’em today. Stoked to do those and 1/2 cab stales again! Great to see Aussie @lmjmc again! šŸ‘ŠšŸ’„And thanks @devillenunes for the sweet @stevecaballero shirt. That’s was always one of my favorite graphics growing up !! šŸ˜ šŸ“¹ @philhajal šŸ‘ŠšŸ’„ @skeletonkeymfg @s1helmets @bonesbearings @slappytrucks @powellperalta @bonelessproducts @spottampa @oldbonestherapy @thedrybrand

You know that feeling you get, when you have something’s that’s not yours, it’s your friends, and think to yourself ā€œ Man… I really don’t want to break this!ā€ ? Well, I get that same responsible ā€œparentā€ feeling whenever I either skate or ride MTB with friends of mines kids, and always want to return them in one piece! Today @cole_liller and @gavinliller made it across the state today for a ride at @alafia with me. Normally, I would be hesitant to do some of the trails and features ( one way swamp gap, thunder ridge rock roll) with people I haven’t ridden with before, but I have been skating with both of these guys for over 10 years, and have a pretty good gauge of their ability. I have always felt like that physical ability is sort of relatable to riding. These guys both killed it! They both looked at the 6 ft rock roll on thunder ridge for about 30 seconds, figured it out and rolled it. I’ve seen a lot of people that have been riding for 20 years+, stop at the top of that roll, think about it for 4-5 minutes ( no lie) and turn right back around and walk back down the trail rather than roll that rock roll. Stoked @cole_liller hit one way (24 ft side) with me also. As soon as he figured the hip at the top out, I towed him in and he did the whole line! šŸ˜ŽšŸ¤˜ I Got’em both back in one piece @jglillerjr and @klillerkatie ! 🤣 šŸ˜…Thanks to @ajsbikesandboards for letting us take out the @iamspecialized_mtb Levos!! šŸ‘ŠšŸ’„ @alafiamtb_trails

A bunch of firsts done today… Did a bean plant to fakie for the #First time in about a year and a half or more. Little @sam_boerger and @jamesskater6 ( the 540 twins) both learned Mctriwsts ( @mikemcgill šŸ‘ŠšŸ’„) or did them again for the #First time in a long while, and both had then wired in less than 3 tries!! 🤯 WTF??!! šŸ”„šŸ”„ So sick fellas!!šŸ™ŒSaw a post from my buddy @rtclem doing a back disaster rev today and got inspired to do one again. It was my #First one since breaking my arm/ having surgery and getting a plate and 8 screws in my humerus 10 weeks ago and now, skating again. Not sure why, but doing backside revert again for the #First time was a little scary after having that 8 weeks off. Felt normal again after I got the first try and bail out of the way. Stoked to āœ”ļøthat one off again! Thanks again for the session @philhajal and Nikki and @ocala_skate_shop ! šŸ‘ŠšŸ’„ā¤ļø @s1helmets @bonesbearings @thedrybrand @skeletonkeymfg @slappytrucks @oldbonestherapy @bonelessproducts @spottampa @powellperalta

@jhankgonzalez1 comes here and leaves a mark in the finals every year. Super consistent, smooth style and he’s an ATV ripper. I skated the humbler ( 12ft deep pool in St. Pete) with him probably 4-5 years ago about a week before the contest, he skated with no pads or helmet and tore that pool to piecesā€¦šŸ”„šŸ™Œ @jhankgonzalez1 got 5th in the finalsā€¦šŸ™ŒšŸ”„šŸ”„

This was @cordano04 first Tampa Pro, and he stood out. Made it look like he’s been skating pro contests for years. He stood out in qualifying Saturday, stood out in the best trick contest ( at least 6-7 šŸ”Øā€™s) Saturday night, and he stood out in the finals on Sunday. Job well done @cordano04 ! šŸ™ŒšŸ«µ 🫔

@jakeilardi skated probably the best in qualifying yesterday, than I’ve ever seen him skate in a contest run, and he always skates great! He was killing it in his run and last trick, might even have been after time , he looped out and popped his shoulder out of place. I’ve dislocated my shoulder 6-7 times in the past, that shit hurts pretty bad. For me, it meant no skating each time for at least 6-7 days until the pain and swelling went away. Not Jake. He was right back in the thick of it today, skating morning practice. Savageā€¦šŸ’ŖšŸ¤• Jake got 11th in the finals. Great skating as always @jakeilardi !! šŸ‘ŠšŸ’„

They quoted a crazy fact during one of @kelvinhoefler runs. I believe they said he has made the finals 12 years in a row. Thats insanely consistent. But so is Kelvin’s skating. šŸ™Œ He had a weird step off at the end of his second run in the finals and tweaked his knee. Hopefully just a weird step off, and nothing too serious. Kelvin skated great all weekend and came in 3rd place in the finals…
