The cool part to all of this is dude is still pulling moves like this on the reg 30 years later and he's doing so now in Australia competing with Team Space Coast at the Board Riders World Club Championships at Snapper Rocks. Home cookin' at the wave I first surfed in 1970 after being shown the way by my dear old friend, Steve Hatch RIP. This magical spot had been hiding in plain sight in my old hometown til I ran into Steve checking the waves at Karge Street one day and he told me to throw my bike and board into his V-Dub van and took me to check it out. Nobody out except for us, perfect 4-6 foot faces, lonnnng, long lefts. The word eventually got out as it always does ( albeit a whole lot slower in the pre internet / cell phone days ) It's a love affair that still hasn't ended to this day.This photo was taken just after the major jetty refurb was completed and the very pronounced "cove effect" was still a major part of it's topography / bathymetry. 📸 @mezapixels
My wife and bestie Tonya and I stepped it up a bit more at Club Mez this year in Chrissy decorations with our three Grands under our roof and she snapped a photo last night as we begin to take it all down tomorrow until next year. Special thanks to my long time friend and landscape / yard care master, Sean Tubbs for wrapping our three palms with the red light strands. Those things are waaaaay taller in person. It was a really fun holiday getting to experience it through the eyes of young children and one teenager. We hope your Christmas was as fun as ours. Felize Ano Nuevo to all ✌️❤️🌊
