In 1975 Mel and Marilyn Meyer started a small timber wholesale business in Dandenong South. In the 90’s the reins were handed to their sons David and Stephen.
2025 marks an important milestone of 50 years of Meyer Timber that now spans the entire eastern seaboard of Australia.
We recognise that our business cannot exist without the amazing support of our committed and hard-working staff, our suppliers and our loyal customers.

Sometimes the best solution isn’t the obvious one.
When a steel ridge beam was proposed over an 8m x 9m raked ceiling in Toowoomba, our team looked at what timber could do instead. Parallel chord trusses couldn’t meet the builder’s maximum allowable rafter depth, so we engineered a solution using 360mm deep meyRAFTERs, supplied in two pieces with pre-drilled holes and assembled on the ground before installation.
Paired with meyFRAME12 LVL framing throughout, the result was a clean timber solution from the walls up. A good example of what’s possible through value engineering and products built to work together.

Three school leavers. Two months in. Already forklift certified.
Sahara, Luke, and Eric joined Meyer Timber through our SLIP traineeship program in QLD, and they haven't slowed down since. Between them they've worked across multiple areas of the business, earned their basic forklift certification, and are now regularly moving packs of timber on the floor under supervision.
They're also across strapping and wrapping for shipment, our web-based picking and label systems, and by all accounts have settled into the team like they've been here for years.
Watching this program develop the next generation of skilled workers is exactly what it's about.
Timber portal frames are becoming a real alternative to steel, and this one is a good example of why.
When Becks Frame and Truss needed a timber solution for a portal frame shed, @meyer.timber Principal Engineer Afzal Laphir had the answer.
The 9.2m x 19m structure is built around four meySPAN13 LVL portal frames at 4.7m centres with a 35° roof pitch. Precision manufactured at @tbsaus.com.au with pre-drilled plywood gussets, so when the materials hit site, assembly was efficient and straightforward for the builder from the start.
Great work to the teams at Becks Frame and Truss and TBS on this one.

We got to spend some time with the legends over at @sydneycarpentrygroup , a valued customer of @sydney_timber_and_hardware out on one of their sites. Meyer Timber’s Dan David, Luke Webster and Charlie Vella fired up the BBQ, handed out some merch and got stuck into real conversations about the products the crew rely on across multiple jobs every single day.
