This week, as part of Métier’s New York Stories series, we hosted a screening of Paul Mazursky’s An Unmarried Woman (1978) — a beloved and distinctly New York film. Co-hosts Lily Rabe and Zoe Ruffner led a conversation about the film’s portrayal of self-reinvention in 1970s Manhattan. The film is especially personal for Rabe, whose mother, Jill Clayburgh, stars as Erica, a woman rebuilding her life after the collapse of her marriage. Rabe reflected on her character’s emotional complexity — and on the experience of starting life over in New York. Learn more about our events on metier.com.

For the debut of Wayne McGregor: Alchemies, Métier hosted an intimate evening with The Royal Ballet and Opera, at The Royal Opera House, offering guests a glimpse of the craft and discipline behind contemporary ballet. The evening was part of our City Stories series — an ongoing program celebrating local artists and cultural institutions from New York to London, and the communities that form around them. The night - co-hosted by Studio Wayne McGregor Trustee, Liam Freeman - began with a backstage tour before guests took their seats in the Royal Box for performances of Untitled (2023), Yugen (2018), and the world premiere of Quantum Souls. We have long been inspired by McGregor’s singular approach to movement — on stage and beyond — and were honored to celebrate him. Thank you to all who joined us for this special evening.
