I honestly didn’t want to post this because it feels vulnerable.
But I’m posting it anyway because if I’m honest… I think a lot of us are carrying this shame quietly, and maybe someone else needs to hear this too.
We are living in such a f**ked up culture around women and ageing.
Every line.
Every change.
Every “imperfection.”
It’s like we’re constantly being shown impossible beauty standards and quietly measuring ourselves against them every time we look in the mirror.
And what I realised is… it becomes a stress loop.
The more I criticised my face, the more stressed and dysregulated I became.
And the more stressed I became, the worse my face looked.
At some point it hit me that this was never just about skincare.
My nervous system was overwhelmed.
My body was exhausted.
And my skin was reflecting the way I was living.
Everything changed when I stopped using the mirror as a place to judge myself.
And started using my skincare routine as a daily ritual to slow down, breathe, regulate my nervous system and reconnect with myself again.
It’s astounding how differently the body responds when it finally feels safe enough to repair.
