I'm excited to exhibit, "DO NOT SQUISH: The Reign of Eternal Insects" - one of the Adorned Spaces exhibitions at the SNAG x Detroit conference in June. This exhibition includes my enamel brooches from the past 20 years. I'm also excited to be a presenter for Friday session one at Wayne State University on June 12. I will be discussing photography techniques for jewelry and small metalwork - using a flash, making a diffuser, and focus stacking to get sharp, fully focused images of dimensional work. @snagmetalsmith
There are so many possibilities when you add mechanisms to jewelry. Here are just a few examples. Only two spots are left in my Jewelry Mechanisms workshop @snowfarmcraft May 21-25, 2026. Sign up soon if you want to join me!#kineticjewelry #snowfarmcraft
An interesting opportunity came up that has me revisiting some older work in my ongoing Entomology Series, including this cerambycid locket brooch from 2018. This one has a hinge and clasp, each set with tiny blue sapphires.
When you have a 9-5 (or in my case, an 8:30-5) and you are also an artist, the interstices of the day become crucially important. The 5-9, whether a.m. or p.m. add up over time. Today, I snuck in 45 minutes before work and 90 minutes after dinner to finish this brooch (enamel and 14K brass). I don't do this every day, nor would I want to, but today it felt good to press on. Photography can wait for another day.
My 2026 and early 2027 workshops are now posted on my website. Jewelry mechanisms, kinetic sculpture, enameling, and more. Registration is LIVE for Snow Farm, Arrowmont, and John C. Campbell workshops. Photos show Biolleyana (net-winged planthopper), an enamel brooch I just finished during the Penland winter residency. #snowfarmcraft #arrowmontschoolofartsandcrafts #johnccampbellfolkschool
Just finished the Penland winter residency and am forever grateful for this unparalleled experience. Fellow residents, the Penland staff, and the focused studio time made these past twelve days so rewarding. Thank you, Penland! #penland #penlandwinter #penlandwinterresidency
