We’re busy getting everything ready for the big world soccer event coming to KC this summer! It’s pretty wild to think that while we’re pouring these in our workshop today, they could end up in someone’s pocket heading back to the UK, The Netherlands, Algeria or Argentina in a few weeks. 🌎✈️
We’ll be set up at Union Station for the City of Entrepreneurs event during the festivities. It’s going to be such a fun way to show off a little piece of Kansas City to everyone visiting from far away.

We’re tucked just the right distance from the stage to vibe with the live music all day, but far enough a way that we don't need to shout over the tunes. With the trolley windows open you can hear the sweet sounds bellowing in the windows while you shop.

It’s a beautiful day in the bee yard, and if you have a moment to sit quietly with us, there’s something quite special to see. If you slow the hive entrance down, it starts to feel less like chaos and more like a family that knows exactly what it’s doing.
Starting on the journey home, the bees add an enzyme called invertase mid-flight to the nectar, beginning the chemical magic of breaking down complex sugars into honey before they even land. Science is happening at fifteen miles per hour! These seasoned adventurers navigate by the sun and even polarized light, finding their way back to the heart of the commune from miles away with a biological GPS. Neato!
Once the forager bees land, they hand off the nectar to the younger "house bees." These bees take that nectar and continue the transformation, passing it among themselves to further enrich it with enzymes. They then deposit it into a hexagonal wax cell and perform a cool science trick using evaporation: they fan their wings in unison to create a breeze that dries out the extra water in the nectar.
Once the nectar reaches a precise moisture level, they seal the wax cell with a fresh, white wax cap. This keeps the newly made honey at the perfect moisture level for long-term storage, ensuring the whole family is fed through the winter.
