I don’t tend to share anything too personal on here (most know). But I feel it’s important to be open and honest during both the good and the bad times. This year has been challenging and in parts unbearable. Recently, my little best friend, my dog named Chloe (5lb yorkie) passed away. He’s been by my side since I got him in Detroit at the age of 19. Being 12 years old he had some struggles but he wasn’t really slowing down. Nothing could prepare me for this summer when I woke to him having an intense seizure in my bed, foaming at the mouth and losing all control of his body. I held Chloe to prevent him from running into walls, from shaking, and causing other harm while the seizure passed. Then rushed to the Vet ER. The next two months I barely slept an hour a night if at all; I was in and out of vet clinics, where all my time and money was spent. I tried different doctors, medications, going even the holistic route with cdb oil to keep his seizures under control, which actually worked really well along with his medication. His meds needed to be given every 8 hours on the dot and if I was late, I would be responsible for his seizure (which I never missed btw). You can imagine what this did to my schedule or life being that I produce music full time. I put everything completely on pause and spent every moment trying to figure out what was wrong. After a couple weeks things seemed better. By September they were down to one light seizure a week and I was able to take him outside and on car rides with me. But just as everything seemed fine, one Friday in late October out of nowhere the seizures started occurring every 5 minutes, no matter what I did they became more intense. Chloe went completely blind. He stopped responding to his name. I rushed him to the vet that Friday only to find out there was nothing we could do, and I only had 1 hour to make a decision before the office closed down for the weekend. He was in so much pain. It broke my heart that there was nothing I could do but to end his suffering. As hard as it was and as hard as I cried, it wasn’t about me..... (continued below in comments)
